True. Dissecting folk knowledge from folklore, especially when it comes to plants, is something lots of scientists are working on. Though sometimes I think it might be easier to just do massive automated tests of plant extracts. 😅

Reading up on trap crops. I've always heard about using plants like marigold to repel pests, but this is the idea that you plant pest sensitive crops to either divert pests away from your main crop, or plant the sensitive crop off-season to stop the pests's life cycle. Cool. #sustainablescience

Feeling this right now. I’ve been stuck in an editing loop because I have not necessarily happy endings, and people keep telling me that won’t sell, readers will hate me. Finally really decided (again ;) that it is more important to me to be true to my story right now. Though things change.

I just want to say, peptide stacks ... the peptide part is basically short for peptide growth hormone. Same for synthetic peptides -- they are synthetic peptide growth hormones. I'm not saying don't take them if the doctor says to... I'm just thinking maybe don't recommend them to high schoolers?

I love biochemistry around fermentation, so this paper was fun for me. They did a Genome Wide Association with 143 plants, 2 species of coffee to look for flavor genes, and the core of their study found that more sugar makes coffee taste better. ❤️❤️❤️

They can be pretty picky about soil conditions so if it’s growing despite that wacking it got, I’d let it be. 😳 Moving forward, if you want it to bush out, you can carefully trim the highest meristem each year. That will encourage lateral meristems to compete for apex and grow out.
