IDK, this one is just freaking cool. Silk. I mean, silk?! Look at how clear that is! Super high pressure though. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
d, Typical temperature and pressure profile of the thermomechanical method. e, Phase diagram of processing conditions at different temperatures and pressures. Non-fused samples are shown as squares, fused samples as circles, degraded samples as triangles and transition states as diamonds. Shaded regions indicate the transition boundaries between the three main zones. f, Photographs of fused silk fabricated at representative processing conditions in e.

I love biochemistry around fermentation, so this paper was fun for me. They did a Genome Wide Association with 143 plants, 2 species of coffee to look for flavor genes, and the core of their study found that more sugar makes coffee taste better. ❤️❤️❤️
Plots associating different carbohydrate genes with flavor profiles.

Very interesting move towards off the grid water condensation from the air itself. 🧪 #sharegoodnewstoo
MIT engineers test a passive water harvester. Window-sized setup made from origami inspired hydrogel material (black) that absorbs water from the air and releases it into tubes where researchers can collect it. MIT news

Chimeric autoantibody receptor (CAAR) T cells are showing promise in treating autoimmune disorders. Basically, the patient's T-cells are genetically modified to attack the disease causing B cells which are attacking the healthy body tissues - 'resetting/calming' the immune system. #sharegoodnewstoo
Shows chimeric autoantibody receptor (CAAR) T cell attacking autoimmune disease causing autoreactive B-cell - leading to apoptosis and a reduction in autoantibodies. Meanwhile, non-autoreactive B cells survive and become plasma cells in a 'reset, calmer' immune system.

Looking into Thermodiffusive Desalination - it’s literally a temperature gradient where you split the hot from cold water. Salt concentrates in cold water.

Not sure how I feel about current subsurface water retention technology (SWRT). Interesting for sustainable farming but installing subsoil sheets of polyethylene (plastic) seems messy for future generations to have to clean up.

Finally read Douglas Tallamy's "Nature's Best Hope: A New Approach to Conservation that Starts in Your Yard". Very good. I especially loved the slightly snippy FAQ answers at the end. :)
