Keep in mind: Ebay changed everything. It gave collectors across countless fields a better idea of just how many elite pieces were out there. The new value of the Lil Abner toy might reflect this. It's possible that since the appraisal, more such toys with their boxes came 2 light. #antiquesroadshow

Quirk, a small, white, stuffed toy duck with a yellow beak and feet and small, black, round eyes poses seated on a navy blue pillow against a dark red backdrop. He is wearing a blazer made from a tweed fabric offered by Bookster, an English textile manufacturer. The fabric is named Lowry in honor of the sartorially spectacular Antiques Roadshow appraiser Nicho Lowry. Quirk’s travel partner had to track down Bookster, purchase the fabric and an appropriate-color liner cloth (not visible in the photo), then hire an artisan to custom-make the blazer. At the end of his beak, Quirk wears a black mustache his travel partner drew on paper. Propped against one foot is a tiny bottle of Champagne—ok, it’s actually bubble liquid, but still.

It is unequivocally good to see someone still celebrating when the great Overton window lurch has society acting like we’re an aberration. Some kid out there will see this. It won’t be the only reason they move toward self-acceptance, but it might be a little nudge. I can’t hate it.
