Created with Unreal Engine 5.7 I hope you are all surviving these temperatures! The scorching heat inspired me to create a little desert environment sketch where I am testing out workflows and custom tools that I am building.

Custom Stylized Shading Model for Unreal Engine 5.7

Gomorrah @sgomorrah.bsky.social · 06/10/2025

Breakdown 7 The heart of the project went through countless iterations until I gave in and gave raymarching a spin with custom HLSL code. Faking liquid is not the easiest task, but it came out quite nicely! What do you think? #MadeWithUnreal #GameDev #TechArt #VFX

-> In substance designer. It's not "baked" to any specific asset but "just" a 3D texture

010

Gomorrah @sgomorrah.bsky.social · 03/10/2025

Yup! Using the 3D noise and applying a curl warp per (z)layer to get 3D tiling curl noise 🙌

110

Gomorrah @sgomorrah.bsky.social · 03/10/2025

Breakdown 6 The idea was to create the illusion of dense smoke that evaporated from the liquid and collected at the top of the bottle. A tiling curl noise flipbook animation and a bit of subsurface scattering for translucency - voilá! #MadeWithUnreal #GameDev #TechArt #VFX

Gomorrah @sgomorrah.bsky.social · 01/10/2025

Breakdown 5 Believe it or not, it’s actually volumetric smoke! Very localized to the inside of the potion bottle. A scrolling 3D curl noise texture achieves animation of smoke! And you guessed it, layering does the job again! #MadeWithUnreal #GameDev #TechArt #VFX

Breakdown 4 The project's background features hand-painted textures, creating a painterly backdrop similar to Dariya Demchenko's concept. A vignette spotlights the main motive. #MadeWithUnreal #GameDev #TechArt #VFX

0124

Gomorrah @sgomorrah.bsky.social · 26/09/2025

Breakdown 3 Trails are actually simple to set up, but since I wanted all trails to be rendered with one emitter only for optimization reasons, I had to work some math and logic! Did you know that I hand-painted all trail textures? #MadeWithUnreal #GameDev #TechArt #VFX

Gomorrah @sgomorrah.bsky.social · 24/09/2025

@vfxlabs.net Yoo, I remember you asking how I did this effect! Well this is it :D

110

Gomorrah @sgomorrah.bsky.social · 24/09/2025

Breakdown 2 The flame effect is quite simple, but the desired 3D look is only achieved by meticulously layering multiple layers. This makes the effect work, no matter the camera position! Can you feel the magic burning? #MadeWithUnreal #GameDev #TechArt #VFX

Breakdown 1 “Call me Bubbles, darling, everybody does!” This is the bubble effect broken down into the different stages. As you can see, it’s rather simple but nicely complements the main liquid effect. #MadeWithUnreal #GameDev #TechArt #VFX

- Concept: Dariya Demchenko - The third detail of my newest artwork (link to my artstation in the bio)! The Liquid effect is the heart of the whole project!! It's made with custom #HLSL code and topped with bursting bubbles for the drama! What do you think? #MadeWithUnreal #GameDev #TechArt

Gomorrah @sgomorrah.bsky.social · 17/09/2025

- Concept: Dariya Demchenko - The second detail of my newest artwork (link to my artstation in the bio)! I achieved the flame and trail effect by carefully layering flame meshes and trails! How do you like the effect? #MadeWithUnreal #GameDev #TechArt #VFX

Gomorrah @sgomorrah.bsky.social · 15/09/2025

- Concept: Dariya Demchenko - The first detail of my newest artwork (link to my artstation in the bio)! The dense smoke is actually a tiling flipbook animation! Did I manage to create the illusion of dense smoke? #MadeWithUnreal #GameDev #TechArt #VFX

Today, I want to share a demo of a real-time magic flame #VFX that I created in #UnrealEngine5 using #Niagara. While small, this effect is a crucial detail in my upcoming project, and I wanted to ensure it felt right when viewed from the side and top.

Hello VFX people, and belated Happy New Year! Today, I am going to share a small work in progress of my work on a larger (personal) project. #realtimevfx #unrealengine #substance3d

Shader Artists! Here's a super handy reference for the formulas behind Photoshop's blending modes✨

A grey and white table titled: Formulas for Photoshop blending modes

The subtitle says: Originally created by Rogelio Bernal Andreo
"While some of the formulas are precisely what Photoshop does, others are just an approximated guess."

What follows are rows of blend modes, including their forumlas, their commutavity, and additional info.

Actually neither :) I am distorting a flame shape texture with a flow/distortion texture (two actually to break repetition). I'm controlling the strength of the distortion with dynamic parameters in Niagara to distort it with varying intensities that causes these lovely flame licks ^^

Wohey! To celebrate moving to this platform and to say hi to all the followers flying in, I sketched up a small but cozy flame effect in #niagara #unrealengine5 #VFX It is great to meet you all, and I am looking forward to connecting more and sharing more of my work when the time comes :)

It's a secret 🤫 my personal project where I follow (almost) every rabbit hole 😅 I hope I can finish it this year but with breakdown and presentation I doubt I can publish it in 2024 still. But I also won't stress about it 😶‍🌫️ On the other hand, I wanna post something so I might do something quick :D

artists! you can make your own media tab, here's how! -log in to skyfeed.app -click "feed builder" -copy the settings below, make an art tag/keyword -add an icon and a name/description, copy that link. now you can add that link in your bio, and clicking it will show ONLY your tagged art!

instructions for making your own art feed using skyfeed. If you select yourself, add a regex keyword, remove all replies and reposts, then 'generate' it, that link is now your art feed!
