I did a search for the authors and found it

that's a question that has a lot of different answers, because they're more like various takes on Batman than like the difference between DBZ releases i would personally start you on the Mirage TMNT Vol 1 canon stories by Eastman & Laird, and those are in the TMNT Ultimate Collection volumes by IDW

my wife bought me a copy of "Gendaijin No Ninjtusu" ("Ninjutsu for the Modern Person") by Gingetsu Itoh, and translated by Eric Shahan it's from earlier in the 1900s, and is sort of the culmination of Gingetsu Itoh's work on Ninjutsu it's not an easy read, but it's a fun one

spoilers for IDW TMNT #12 (2025) during the big battle, i liked this one bit of narration that starts out talking about the beauty and grace of karate as an art form before shifting direction into how the Turtles fight for survival, and how it's not pretty at all
