Aren’t you forgetting Mastodon too? You can even set up your fully owned server and host yourself, so are completely free of control by a central platform. Came here for your Musso video though :)

It does indeed sit lower, and quite a bit. I would imagine it creates some drag too. I show that myself and do the measurements in my own video, if you’re keen: youtu.be/bS__vK7PIaY?...

KGM Musso EV — Hidden Features & Offroad

Most videos of the #KGM #Musso #EV pickup truck miss key features and don't show it doing actual work. I decided to remedy that by driving along Finnish forest roads to pickup some firewood. Let me know what you think! www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS__... #cars #EVs #pickupTrucks #pickup

KGM Musso EV — Hidden Features & Offroad

Point is there is no ‘anything’ if you need/want something with decent offroad and good towing capabilities as an EV with sufficient range. No other EV in production offers that. Sadly. So ‘stupidity’ argument is hard to hold. (I personally also like the looks, way more than a traditional pickup)
000
Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
So fundamentally the CT does solve things no other production EV currently solves. We can then debate whether those are worthy things to solve but hey we could all be using public transport or walking too.
000
Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
Well trucks vs cars is another debate. Besides it’s ok to get a car for fun things. But many people have those needs too. In fact I’d need a car like that tomorrow for one task! And I’d regularly use one for picking up firewood and hauling a trailer sauna. I think you can even fit two euro pallets.
010
Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
The Cybertruck would basically solve all my needs, particularly if it was 10cm narrower and 50cm shorter. Even has ready tonneau + power outlets. Plus I’ve always loved dystopian sci-fi so the styling works for me too. Funnily enough the wife has forbidden pickups, but would accept a CT.

Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
I could live with the Musso. It covers immediate needs. Though the ground clearance would literally grate at times, as well as the poor approach. The shite Korean s/w with annoying beeps could be a dealbreaker (I haven’t tested), and no pet mode would suck. Range too (if better than Hilux)…

Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
Jeep is coming out with the Recon, supposedly, which may or may not be better offroad (it’s a bit unclear atm). But that also has lower range and at a costly price and with inadequate towing.
100
Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
There is Munro from Scotland which is kind of cool but even costlier and with low range and very niche. I wish this wasn’t the situation! I’d really like to have options. Particularly at the original CT price level which Tesla/Elon completely and sadly screwed up.
100
Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
In US, Rivian is the only production vehicle that comes close (though smaller bed). In Europe we have nothing. 0. The upcoming Hilux EV has ridiculously low range, as does the Isuzu, and cost €€€. Musso: much less ground clearance, poor approach ° and less efficient (despite being much smaller).
100
Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
It is pretty decent at offroad with massive ground clearance and 4WD with diff locks on both axles (2 motor version). It can tow a heavy load. It can take a bit of bashing and has a fairly sizeable bed. It’s also extraordinarily efficient and has ‘pet mode’. It’s a bit too big for my tastes though.

Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
1) People spew a lot of nonsense. I’m not a fan of nonsense. 2) I actually like the car. It solves things that no other EV does atm, and is different. The world needs different ideas.

Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 29/07/2026
I don’t love Elon. I think he’s off his knocker and an outright lout, and is doing more harm than good to Tesla. To his credit I think he enabled Tesla to get where they are but his antics over the past few years have often been disgusting.

I’m sure you’ll be able to point to an actual array of cases to back up the trolling. Considering that 1000s have been sold, also in places like Canada, rust should be prevalent by now. (There were a couple reports back in the day but the guys indeed discovered it was surface dust and rubbed off)
100
Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
If that really was one of its biggest flaws, it would be doing pretty well as a car. But having a component break when very heavily overloaded and abused is not what I’d normally consider an issue. The CT has real issues that could be named. What traction issue?
100
Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
Huh? You specifically said ‘similar sized internal combustion engine’ car. Not that that really matters and is not the point.
000
Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
If you’d done the slightest bit of reading up, beyond the meme, you’d find reports about rust have all been things like metal particles from transportation or elsewhere sticking on the stainless and rusting. Happens on other cars too. And clean up trivially. Stainless can corrode but it takes a lot.

Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
I’ve only seen exactly one confirmed case of it being snapped, particularly in comparison to an ICE vehicle (actually ICE has nothing to do with it, but I’m assuming you’re not claiming that). That was a case of heavy, intentional abuse. Certainly it hasn’t been reported as a wide issue.
100
Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
You stated that the tow bar snapping is its biggest weakness. But if it doesn’t snap in any normal use but needs to be loaded at multiple times its rated weight then I don’t feel the argument for that being a major weakness is warranted.

This comment makes no sense. The Mac came after the Lisa, and was a skunkwork project lead by Jobs after being ejected from the Lisa team.
110
Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
The snapped hitch you refer to was loaded at many times the rated weight and was possible to repair. The ICE pickup had a bent chassis from that abuse (undrivable). It is true that steel bends rather than snaps, but the CT in the above case was severely and intentionally abused.

Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 28/07/2026
What are your suggested EV options then if one needs/wants to haul, tow and have decent ground clearance and AWD? Clue: there are basically none in Europe, and only a couple in the US.

If they could fix those EU annoyances (Renault and Jeep have an easy way to turn them all off) and tweak a few other things (the armrest is apparently fixed in 2027 year model), would be great! I think it’s a fantastic car. Now throw in a little extra towing, ground clearance and AWD and I’m 😘

Kristoffer Lawson @setok.bsky.social · 01/07/2026
For me the armrest was a thing I noticed immediately on the short test drive. If you recline your seat the armrest points up, bad idea. Is also be concerned about Kia’s habit of having an annoying advanced driver annoyance system without a way to turn all off in one go.

There is some very clever thinking in it. But also really dumb stuff (the arm rest that points up if seat back is lowered). The latter definitely had a feel of ‘rushed out’. So might be some truth to that.

Good to hear (just noticed you responded to my bridged post from Mastodon). With Korean cars I’d be very worried about the Afvanced Driver Annoyances. In particular the coffee break thing is impossible to turn off. Stopped me from even considering an Inster.
