Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 9hUnfortunately, b&w doesn't convey just how bright that pouch is. 150
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 12hToday's churchdoodle is a Magnificent Frigatebird. I unfortunately ran out of time to finish texturing the branches on the right. 160
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 11/10/2026I'm playing Horizon Forbidden West for the first time. I remember goons flipping their wigs over Aloy's looks in this one and I don't get it because she looks identical. I guess her hair's longer? 000
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 11/10/2026And oh yes, I only read vol 1. I meant to put that up above. 000
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 11/10/2026I'll also say that for whatever reason, I get Mind MGMT kinship vibes from the book. Like if you like one, you'll probably like the other well enough. And what the heck, my library has the rest of the series, so I'll probably check it out. 100
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Copra reads like what I'd imagine Suicide Squadron must have been. Like a dirty dozen kind of set-up. Rough riders and dire stakes. Only it's missing a lot of the corniness that governs the genre. It's got that intentional absence of preciousness that you'll find in, say, Grand Budapest Hotel. 100
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 11/10/2026So now when people ask if I can recommend any superhero comics, I can say: Yeah, Astro City, a couple runs of Daredevil and Thor and whatever, mid-80s X-Men, maybe Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man, and yeah, Copra. 110
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Comics I Read 34) Copra by Michel Fiffe Okay so we all know how I'm not into superhero comics, right? That should be pretty obvious. Does Copra change that? Not really. Is it good? Yes, I think it probably is. 100
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Oh man that's so cool. I hope the movies good (I've never seen an adaptation) 110

Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I read C&P for the first time a couple years ago and it was a hoot. The background was filled with so much color, these vibrant full-bodied characters who only get maybe two pages of screentime. 040
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Yeah, I clicked (baited!) before I saw it was CBR. Once there, I scrolled (doomed!) 100

Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Holy crap I just got to a part in East Of Eden that broke my heart so hard. 030
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I organize my non-manga by size then author where possible. I've got two sections (normal-sized books and smaller books) and both are alpha by creator I most associate with the work. Manga is kind of just whatever fits according to book height and series length. 110
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I'm mainly impressed that you could line up your Eartha spine with the rest. I had to rotate mine vertically and fit it with my tall books. 100
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Looks like I'll just have to get her entire bibliography 😅 100
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I really do need to read more Malkasian. This was great and Eartha was wonderful. 110
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Every year I think, "I don't have money for this, I should stop," but I can't. Getting these in the mail is too dear. 000
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I've been subscribed to Cass' bimonthly minicomics for 13yrs now and it's always worth it to find a new Postal Constituent envelope in the mail. Carrie & Mollie was vol 15, iss 3, meaning I must have started my sub in the midst of vol 4 after having bought a bunch of her previous work at SPX 2013. 100
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026[ASIDE: Cass within specifies "women who love women" and "lesbian-like" relationships, and I don't know why. I suspect it has something to do with the cultural meaning to "lesbian" as a denominator and perhaps those cultural attachments are anachronistic when applied to 1900 relationships? maybe??] 100
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Cass remains clear-eyed about the heroes she features in her project, outlining both their moral successes as well as their moral failings. Carrie & Mollie describes other women who love women throwing other women who love women under the bus (an old story that remains imminent). 100
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026As with the rest of her ongoing Western Civ project in all its incarnations, Cass is interested in both the wonder and the folly of our historical antecedents, the follies usually rooted in patriarchy but also often enough in privilege as well. 100
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Comics I Read 33) Carrie & Mollie by Caitlin Cass Continuing the project of Women's Work/Suffrage Song, Cass presents the contracted story of romantically paired suffragists, Carrie Chapman Catt and Mollie Garrett Hay. 100
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026It's also warm and heartfelt and steadfast and I found myself surprised to discover my heart lumped up all plumply in my throat as the main character, a champion fish gutter, comes to reckon via forced flashback with a True Thing She'd Been Avoiding. 000
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Shadows is critical of the world but neither as dull as allegory nor so sharp as critique, occupying instead a space that allows it to poke at many of the frictions native to the daily living without commiting itself to being A Work About ____. 100
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Shadows Of The Sea often feels like it must be allegory but instead it only piles up a collection of things that put you in mind of things in the world. 100

Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/202617 years ago, my wife and I played through the first one and (obviously) fell in love with the little robot. That year for our anniversary, I painted her a little painting. 070

Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Do you know if we get book market gn numbers? I'd love to know where pubs like Abrams, Metropolitan, Pantheon, Seven Seas, D+Q, Fanta, etc land. 110
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Oh, duh. I didn't even clock "comic stores" in the title. My bad. Thanks! 000

Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Got to the point of East Of Eden describing Samuel's reaction to Una's death and, well, I just want to go home and hold myself against the day one of my children goes before me. Which, with my age and health vs their youth and vibrancy, would only happen in the greatest tragedy. 020
Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Got the bold entries down. I'll probably switch to a micron for the definitions, but for the bold entries themselves, I used my favorite pen, the Uniball Vision Fine. 110

Seth T. Hahne @sethhahne.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Moby-Dick is a funny, bombastic book about a lot of different things, so I'm hoping to encourage new readers by giving them a funny, bombastic comic about a lot of different things, a comic which is just a tiny taste of the real deal. 031
