"BRITAIN BECOMES DUMP FOR THE NAXI EXILES. Scores of Jews and other exiles are being smuggled into England in small foreign ships, for £25 a time." Daily Mirror, 1938. Sound familiar?
Headline: Britain becomes dump for the Nazi exilesSCORES of Jews and other exiles, abandoning their homes in the Nazi terror, are being smuggled into England by the captains of small foreign ships who slink inside the three-mile limit at night and put ashore their human cargoes for £25 a time.
This smuggling, once sporadic, is now a racket earning thousands of pounds weekly for captains of French, Dutch and Belgian trawlers.
It was exposed entirely at Hove, yesterday when two foreign seamen were gaoled for smuggling a German in at Shoreham harbour last Monday.
Britain's immigration officers are helpless. They know that Hitler is dumping his unwanted people here. They cannot stop other Mid-European Governments seizing on Britain's lethargy to lower their own unemployment figures.
Every day refugee Spaniards, Jews, Ger mans and Austrians are slipping into Britain Employment agencies are inundated by fran-tic appeals from foreigners who, scared by European unrest, want British security.

We have responded to HM Inspectorate of Prisons’ review of children in custody, published today. The report looks at evidence gathered from inspections, survey findings and interviews from children held in four young offender institutions and a secure training centre. ow.ly/BnGn50ZPJ6M
“Prison is no place for a child.
We know this from the calls we receive each week. We see it in the reports and official statistics showing that children are locked up for hours on end. And today, we hear it again from the children themselves, through the many survey responses that
have been collated by inspectors.”
