Hm, I wonder why Somali parents in Minneapolis might be reluctant to talk to federal law enforcement.

His one political opinion is the right wing NPC meme. People to my left are unthinking automatons who have been influenced by social media to be insufficiently happy with the economy, AI, centrist politicians, etc.

Here's a picture of Teddy Roosevelt's daughter Alice at one of the first widely seen public demonstrations of the Wright military Flyer in 1909. She was already 26 at the time. She was still alive when the Concorde entered regular service.

Duluth PD now has a Temu McGruff the Crime Dog. Fun fact: Under the DPD union contract, the city of Duluth does not have the power to fire Temu McGruff or any other officer.

Are we getting an edition of The Odyssey with Matt Damon's face plastered on the front? Because I'm still mad about this.

There's a scene at the beginning of White Fang where sled dogs naively attempt to join a wolf pack thinking they are similar enough to be accepted, only to be killed and eaten. Anyway, that's the vibe I get from a Canadian man named Pierre decrying "woke" while dressed up like Cowboy Elton John.

Interesting context from the rest of the sentence that you cut off:
Screenshot of text: But although a gun is an "unusual weapon," it is to be remembered that the carrying of a gun, per se, constitutes no (p.423)offence. For any lawful purpose--either of business or amusement--the citizen is at perfect liberty to carry his gun. It is the wicked purpose, and the mischievous result, which essentially constitute the crime. He shall not carry about this or any other weapon of death to terrify and alarm, and in such manner as naturally will terrify and alarm a peaceful people.

Historians too are prone to motivated reasoning when the history has political implications. See Edmund S. Morgan's review of the fraudulent book Arming America, in which he wonders how founding Americans could have been so wrong when they described guns as being common and useful. archive.is/uOTx7

My namesake great great uncle bought this Hallicrafters radio around 1953 and for decades would turn it on everyday just in time to listen to Paul Harvey and then turn it off. I like to use it to listen to far off AM ststions sometimes at night.

I can't help but think that 70-year-old Democrat JoAnne liking the tradition of the old flag depicting a Native person riding into the sunset, and Angie Laken-Riley-Act Craig being up 33 points on Peggy Flanagan among people aged 65+ are related phenomena.

Reading some comments from the judge in this story, why is it so normalized that prosecutors won't face any consequences for doing illegal things to lock people in cages? The judge finds out about what they did and she talks about "Mistakes happen" and you "apologize for it" and "move on".

We have a local NIMBY group that wants to turn a suburban golf course next to a big park into an extension of the park instead of housing. One of their ideas for the land was land back. My first question was if the tribe wanted to build housing would they be allowed. ourparkourvote.org/full-site

There is a local Duluth NIMBY group trying to force a ballot question to prevent a potential housing development, and you’d never guess based on their fear mongering that the proposal is to develop a golf course next to Lester Park and not the park itself.

Someone should do a study about how Andrew Fleischman can care as much as he does about exonerating innocent hounded by their own government in Georgia while holding such evil views about Palestine.

I think that's probably true of most people. One whole wall of my studio apartment is dominated by my vintage stereo equipment and records. And I care a lot about digital privacy too. I've been on a whole kick to move to self hosted or privacy focused alternatives to Google, Meta, etc services.

It feels like a police state because it is a police state. It was true before ICE TSA MN is in the midst of an ongoing invasion by ICE and our Dem lawmakers can't stop introducing gun bills that exempt ICE, require you register with racist cops and allow unlimited warrantless searches of your home

I agree with Clark Neily, one of the lawyers representing Heller in his case. Con law always requires line drawing so you might as well set up a test that requires judges to admit it.
