It's your tinker genet. Viverridae vivacious. Can't see the greymuzzle if already a grey genet. They/them. Maker of things, crisper of circuitry, sculpter of stuff. Ebikes, furry things, electronics tinkering and props.

Today's genet tinkerer brain: "what is happening"
Norman the spotted genet, in a rare moment of stillness from trying to sit on Tree Kitty, on the floor of kinkatopia.org, a kinkajou animal sanctuary. Staring straight up, ears in alert, and looking very bemused-wired, which is... quite a normal state for genets.

Happy Spooky Month from the things wot go sniff and scoot in the night. [Genet prowl!]
A large-spotted genet, inquisitively sniffing about the forest floor for morsels in the light of a camera setup. Nose and whiskers to the ground, this nocturnal viverrid is in their element, alert but relaxed; no threat crest raised on its hackles, ringstriped tail low and loose.

I feel like this'd be one of your River Forge ships, @tinselfire.bsky.social It's actually a through-axle, hub motor stator core mount, but it does have a Tiny Spin-deck Shippy look to it.
A shiny aluminum CNC milled axle core for an ebike hub motor. Three flanges extend out from a tubular, machine-tooling polished central tube, for bearing mounts and other hardware to sit on when this piece is complete, but this raw part never made it far enough to receive them, cut short by a machining defect. The largest ring of three has holes and sockets cut into it, partly for lightening, and partly to interface with the spokes of the motor stator that is not attached.

My favorite spokey pokey-tool finally died. Slightly contoured bitted end for prying potting rubber, making little end incisions in circuit traces, and Just Bein' Useful. Steel Sapim spoke off cut, scrap of pallet wood used for so long it got polished by my hands.
A broken handmade "pokey tool". About 4 centimeters of broken bicycle spoke off a rounded, ovoid contour wooden hand whittled grip polished smooth by years of use. The sad remains of a beloved scrappy tool

I shall have you know we're very triangular if you happen to look at us from exactly the right angle in the right lighting! Pay no mind to the unusually rounded, clearly not sergal ears. Or the total absence of a tailpoof. 100% genuine sergal!!
A rusty spotted genet, viewed in side profile against a background of dry earth and very sparse grass. Umber and cinnamon hued spots dapple a brindled hide of predominantly sandy shades, while the creature's rounded ears perk attentively after some possible prey item, gleaming eyes focused on something straight ahead. This small nocturnal predator has been interrupted briefly by a photographer's flash.

I feel like it's worth mentioning while Milo Yiannopoulos is the latest entry in the "Leopards Eating People's Faces Party" annals, I literally banned the guy from an MFF Telegram for being so attention-desperate he was trying to get in with altfurs and raid MFF. I am not joking.
A small image snippet of the Telegram "Removed users" UI in gray. The name search "milo" reveals one entry for "MILO" with a fake gold Twitter verified badge and the handle @miloinc. Yes, he was pathetic enough to try raiding a furcon in his nadir.

Not joking on "deploying the battery iron" for some field repair. (If I had a Cyberpunk archetype, it's definitely Nomad)
The red and white checker paint decorated battery of Siddeley's ebike build over a backdrop of concrete floor. The lower frame is currently playing host to a Haxbox soldering station, Sid's homebrew battery powered soldering iron for field repair work on bikes like this, with a D16 type tip in the iron, crusty from recent work

You know I keep that thang on me #hackspacelyfe
Siddeley's daily carry toolkit. Flap top heavy synthetic tool pouches on an apron belt, with four compartments in view hiding all the tools that a tinkerer needs for field work. Hanging outside the pouches on lanyards and holsters are rolls of gaff tape, painter's tape and a sling of zip ties in easy reach. Sid's ebike, "the rat" rests against that leg.

I might have gone a little too full-send. (First time I've actually straight up kicked a pedal off the crank peg getting started from a stop)
The left hand crank of a bicycle, over a concrete slab. It's in a very sad state, broken nearly in half with one lobe of two hanging on by the slimmest sliver of sun-bleached black plastic. Rest in pieces.

More "Living River Forge", @tinselfire.bsky.social Decorative light strings of scrap electronics and shipping tubes with resin, every vertical surface used like a spacer (note the magnetic tool plate on the fume hose!
The soldering worktop at Siddeley's bench. Every conceivable point on the gray slat wall behind the fice pointed iris nozzle of the fume vent front-center is hung with tools, tape and electrical sundries. A few small lamps hang decorative; small glass spice vials with a fill of phosphorescent resin mixture and LED cores, one of them with a tiny shade made of scrap circuit panels. In the foreground above, plastic clear tubes of heat shrink insulation hang in a row, suspended from magnetic strips on a bolt-tipped cord to allow them to attach.

Having a River Forge moment here, @tinselfire.bsky.social Workspace like I'm in an orbital habitat or spacecraft without spin gravity
A look up in part of Siddeley's work space. Tools and wiring festooned over vertical surfaces. Most of the focus on this photo is on an overhead arm lamp with magnetic strips holding an assortment of electricians scissors, flush cutter and pliers. Electronics schematics are out of focus on the wall behind, and other homebrew electronic work gadgets are attached vertically to all surfaces

Well, here, have s'more genet teef.
a spotted genet, zonked out and snoozing, in close focus. Just the creature's silly head, on its side, snout upturned and mouth wide open showing the various sharp teeth lining its whiskery muzzle. Probably dreaming of mice to chase.

Oh, for your ref, on the earlier topic of ride gear being a good idea, @renegadekangaroo.bsky.social - this lives in my front hall. Saved my face and probably my life. Totem reminder now, every time I head out for a ride.
A white motorcycle helmet with noticeable cracks and damage to the chin bar. The visor is missing and the rubber gasket normally running flush behind that visor is sagging at the top where it was almost squeezed off by the missing visor cracking off. A red NASA "CRITICAL SPACE ITEM" sticker adorns the crown.

It is valid to eat fingers.
A spotted genet's gone fangs out, deciding to chomp a little on the human hand stroking at its cheeks, whiskers lifted, mouth open and ears pivoting back. Play biting, not genuine aggression, as its hackles aren't raised and its sable-spotted coat isn't bristling but still. The little viverrid has chosen violence now.

Chirp? o.o! Art by @sifyro.bsky.social - genet me!
The spotted genet character, Siddeley, with their ring-striped black and grey tail flowing to the left, on a blank background in early aviator's apparel consisting of a flight harness, open fronted aviator's coat and blue trousers. Whiskers, big purple eyes and tall rounded ears adorn this genet's smiling viverrid face, flashing a victory vee gesture with clawed digits. Posed as if casually leaning on something to the right, or floating in free flight, with a flight-cap and goggles ready to go.

My bike's main battery, for reference: Two ports, charge and discharge (vehicle drive supply). This charge port has recessed sleeve receptacles and matching posts that mesh with recesses around each pin of the M connector. Silicone dust and spray cap.
A very closely framed snapshot of an ST3 type ebike battery charging port. Three crescent-like shapes mark the ends of each pin sleeve in this black plastic socket with cutouts for the unseen plug end to index into.

30 kilograms of groceries onto a 25 kilogram vehicle. Milk crate bike gang. (I'm a leatherworker for goodness sakes, I should build myself some saddlebags or fork bags already.)
Siddeley's red salvaged Ohm bicycle frame with its hallmark "RATFOOD!" battery mounted to the front step-through low tube. Flags of orange gaff tape mark peripheries of the bike, the handlebars are utterly festooned with a mess of ride electronics, voltage buck power supply, and truck horn. Two phaserunner motor controllers are currently redundant, because there's currently only one rear hub motor on this frame. The poor "20 pound maximum" load tail rack is hanging on for dear life with at least twice that perched on top of it. Out of frame is the backpack and hip-bag loaded with a good ten to fifteen kilograms more of stuff.

A week's worth of food, snacks and treats on one bicycle

Cal Kestis, demonstrating the appropriate handling of space-fascists: (Silly Imperials.)
The Jedi character Cal Kestis, posed in a Jedi-style wanderer's outfit with a roughspun tunic over wrapped sleeves, a bandolier and pack, with tasseted waistcloth traveler's cloak rolled up at the beltline. The not so fortunate bounty hunter sharing this Jedi temple courtyard in the game screenshot, rather lifeless and prone on the ground, is minus a lightsaber-snipped hand on the tiles in the background. Cal has a boot up on this poor Imperial hireling.

I love my little mutant Phaserunner. Did some preventative maintenance on it; Odd cable boot on the XT connector's for a Hall grounding reference splice to route around damage. Original prototype Phasesink mount. Mutare ad custodiam!
A GRIN Technologies Phaserunner motor controller. The bare stainless finish type, with a shiny steel casing, mounted in a fin-ridged anodized aluminum heat spreader and heatsink expansion. Black cabling snakes out of frame to the left, and it's sitting on a bit of shop-towel after having just undergone a little electrical surgery. One of Siddeley's custom touches to this repaired and recycled motor controllers is a pentagonal laser-engraving badge-art from XCOM on top in black oxide, with finer print reading "MUTARE AD CUSTODIAM" over the stylized biohazard symbol below in the pentagonal shield. It also reads "There are many Phaserunners, but this one is also mine. - S"

Built a thing. Servo controller for a bicycle spoke lacing driver. Programmable quadrature-sensor motor drive that can deliver repeated, precise rotation counts when setting spoke-nipples.
A prototype board of a small servo motor driver. A red riser card sits over a mostly obscured blue servo power board below. The top and bottom edges of the PCB are populated with 0.1" pitch header rows pinning the two circuit boards together. Connectorized wiring is routed over from the left, with a DC barrel plug, thin red and black wire connector for the control trigger button, and a rainbow of wire attached to the motor connector JST group of 6 pins. Far right, an adjustable DC-DC power supply sports chubby little electrolytic caps on its top face and a transistor package for regulator switching.

It's only polite, so the test battery doesn't run down on the meter's passive draw.
A close look at a very hack-bred meter cluster of three LED numeric displays inset into a clear acrylic frame stuffed with flying circuit and multiple colors of wire.

Yeah, there's actual structural black iron gas pipe on my frame at the moment. Gaze upon my shame, @clapptrap.bsky.social
Siddeley's gas pipe kickstand. An old German alloy bike stand with the original leg snapped off halfway. A sleeve of half inch black iron (and at least 5% rust now) pipe forms the leg supporting 30 kilograms of red framed ebike above, with a bodged rubber foot made of inner tube bound into a ball with number 23 splicing rubber.

A shameless bodge for old, broken but beloved parts

Today's ride is already interesting. Almost ate it by finding unexpected black ice - caught enough dry pavement to keep it upright and not go sliding into King George highway, but... yikes. (The Fraser river is somewhere down there. I think. Ice fog.)
An almost entirely dogged photo frame with near zero visibility on the right half. The faintest hints of the iron framed Pattullo bridge are visible at top, and a barge is the sole hint at the river below completely engulfed in fog.

QTP with a robot that's not Star Wars or Transformers. Hard Mode: No Gundam Series,Battletech or Macross allowed. [Saraba Yasashiki Hibiyo intensifies in the distance] It's probably cheating a tiny bit to invoke Dougram with Battletech forbidden.
The Dougram, titular mecha from Dougram Fang of The Sun, slumped over in the Deloyer deserts after being scuttled and abandoned by its crew in the first episode recap / final ending. Damage is evident all over from its many trials on the journey, and the machine is no longer operable. It sits like a man slumped exhausted, body hunched over knees, a hand in its lap, and the cockpit slouching lifeless. Sepia and sand tones further carry the desolation of this end to the iconic mecha's adventure.

Vent system had to be shut off again to deal with a shop rag getting ingested by a port. Decided to fix that problem. Test cut, built a thing. Finished devices being lasered in 1/16" aluminum. BaggieBlocker9000. No more eating stray cloths, parts baggies or other dross, fume-slurper.
A busy worktable with wiring scattered to the right, some decorative chain to the left in progress, and dominating the frame to the center, the Baggie Blocker 9000, a fume vent hood attachment that would normally be a foot-wide open suction port, but it is instead, equipped with an X shaped bar of laser cut plastic sandwiching aluminum expanded mesh, which quite effectively will block this vent port from ingesting bags, rags and other lightweight objects which it would normally ingest, then eject through a fan onto the building roof, jamming said fan and requiring someone to go climb onto the roof to retrieve it.

A much needed device.

I made a cheeky suggestion in the workshop for Christmas party activities. Other crew have run equally wild with it.
Handwritten text on a whiteboard, for suggested Christmas party activities

It reads, top to bottom:
- Finish kegs
- (redacted) Disco hoe down
- All the rum
- none of the rum
- some of the rum
- schrödinger's rum
- schrödinger's cat's rum
- pin the tail on the reindeer
