Going to pick this up soon, when my Fire Emblem ferver has died down a tad. But this game seems super neat! As a textile art fan (though I just embroider) this is so cool

Tyrants view educated citizens as their greatest enemy. Slaveholders stopped the enslaved from learning to read. Nazis burned books. Dictators censor media. That’s why Trump is attacking education, science, museums, the media, and the arts – to prevent us from learning. It's Fascism 101.

Hit the final battle for Cai’s act I in Fortune’s Weave and it gave me chills. The music went all out, there was a situation I was not expecting, just genuinely incredible stuff

Why is AI suddenly when corporate responsibility ends? If you make a product and it hurts people, you are responsible if that was an unforeseen event. Why is going “oops, our bad” an ok response from AI companies??

Why is a critic being an asshole to me because I admitted to skimming his review while working? Good lord. I get it, I write critiques too, albeit unprofessionally, but don’t act like it’s some affront to be like “maybe put a spoiler warning up top for people like me.”

Reading Dracula from a modern perspective is fun because yes I get this book originated a lot of iconography that people find spooky but also Jonathan Harker is like “hm, weird none of the locals want me to meet this Count Dracula and keep doing the sign of the cross, time to go meet the guy”

As a former 311 agent and someone who’s building my career in public service (I’ll have been doing that for 6 years in January!) I love Mamdani’s continual efforts to highlight the average government employee!!

There are some serious Metaphor Refantazio influences in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, which I’m not mad about at all. Atlas and Fire Emblem, hm, sounds like they should make a game together, it would be great (I am on my knees begging for Tokyo Mirage Sessions sequel)

Direct thoughts! Not a ton I needed but the new Kirby looks fun and I’ll probably need to put more time into Pikmin 4. Of course I loved the Persona footage, and the more we see of P6 the more I am psyched about the vibe. Also Professor Layton release date this year!

This is a really great video on how Harry Potter is being normalized in a way to try and assuage people who might be uncomfortable with supporting JK Rowling. It gets into a nuance that I really value. youtu.be/xxD1ekkA7hc?...

As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.

There is no ethical consumption of HBO’s Harry Potter series

You can’t without supporting Rowling’s transphobic bigotry.

Also, the obsession with review scores is dumb. I personally just vibe check my review for whatever feels right, but even then it doesn’t necessarily mean much. A lot of my favorite games I’ve covered have gotten 7/10 type scores, because while they have flaws they just hit for me

Allyson 👾 @serenyty.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

Ranking specific outlets on how aligned they are with players is really strange, because the reviewers are players and usually just one person sharing their own perspective. Other NWR reviewers would probably review games and give very different reviews, and that’s ok!

I switched to mostly using DuckDuckGo to try and minimize how much I interact with AI (turning off AI answers is super easy there) and I’m glad. But fuck off google, you don’t need to capitulate here

I might need to play this solely because I have nostalgia for the footage that seemed to constantly be on G4 when it came out
