What part of, “This person is actively harming a minority community and we’d all appreciate if you would stop helping her IP trend and keep giving her free advertising in the lead up to her new TV premiering?” is so hard for you to understand? What you see as attacks is people pleading to allies.

You think people aren’t trying to go after the source? They are. But it’s hard when the “source” is a billionaire who uses her wealth *and social capital* to attack a minority. The most effective thing people can do is make her and her work irrelevant.

Every social media says that other social media is an echo chamber. You are free to go to the one’s that you think aren’t. Artists can have fun! I love artists having fun! Making HP characters trend is not a necessary component of having fun.

If pushing back against a vocal transphobe who explicitly uses her wealth and fame to promote anti-trans lawsuits and legislation is being an “echo chamber of HP and Rowling haters”… then yes, I suppose you could say that. Or you could show an ounce of empathy and not post shit like this.

DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

DoorDash Spent $1.4 Million Trying to Stop Mamdani From Becoming Mayor. Now We Know Why.

In a wage-theft settlement, DoorDash now has to pay its workers around 100 times what it spent trying to beat Zohran Mam

One reason I like playing Arena is I can see that, decide I don’t want that smoke, and just leave the match. Life is short so there are some decks I don’t waste time trying to beat

For years I ordered from my local bookstore under my legal name for billing purposes. After several orders like this I started using my chosen name, because it’s not like I was being subtle about things and if they hadn’t figured it out, that’s kind of sad.

I’ve been working through my backlog (especially all the giveaway/ARCs I still need to get to) but I just had to do some book shopping this month. (I’ve read a library copy of ItDD before but really wanted to read again so got my own copy)

Paperback copies lined up of:
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant
Welcome to Dorley Hall by Alyson Greaves
Shadows Over Ravenkirk 2 by Vivian Valentine
Desecration’s Song by Jessica Conwell
This Movied Doesn’t End the Way We Want by Hailey Piper

We live in an age where people working regular jobs all throughout society (like packaging designers, for example) grew up on Internet memes and I don’t know that my psyche can handle all of what that entails.

The box for a popcorn maker. The top right corner has a graphic that says “MAKES 16 cups”.

In the center of the graphic, it shows an overhead photo of a bowl of popcorn with a disembodied handing reach from left and right to get popcorn, but the hand positions and angle of the photo make it look like a goatse

It looks like @minotaurbooks.bsky.social has abandoned their account and Vikki VanSickle isn’t here at all, but here is a review of her upcoming mystery novel ‘The Mystic and the Missing Girl’

The books moves at a nice brisk pace and made me want to keep reading much later into the night than I should. The one issue was with the ending which suffers from 'Return of the King' syndrome. There were four or five vignettes at the end which each could have served as a satisfying conclusion to the novel, but in order to make sure none of the story threads were left hanging we had to go through all of them to tie them up. Each one independently was sweet and well done, but having them all back to back made it feel like the party guests were overstaying their welcome.

All in all VanSickle has created a great cast of characters in a charming town and I hope that there really are more adventures for Drew and Nick in the cards.
