seraph @seraphell.bsky.social · 21/04/2025And why do you contend that there must be no truth in the idea of a man named Jesus having a following in first century Judea? 200

seraph @seraphell.bsky.social · 21/04/2025I think a prick is annoying in addition to being bad. A dick is just a bad person 010
seraph @seraphell.bsky.social · 21/04/2025Like sincerely, what is so implausible about a man named Jesus that with a religious following in the first century? Can you tell me? It seems to me that the insistence on denying the very existence of such a person is motivated reasoning. It's a fool's errand. 100
seraph @seraphell.bsky.social · 21/04/2025Every historical figure you've ever heard of is recorded in books. Tell me, how do you know that all of history isn't just made up? Is it because that would be implausible? That a bunch of people creating an elaborate fabrication for no reason is less plausible than people simply telling the truth? 200
seraph @seraphell.bsky.social · 20/04/2025LMFAO I have not been arguing about the divinity of Jesus, I've only been concerned with his historicity. Thanks for giving up the game pal, better luck next time spreading your own misinfo because you hate religion more than you love truth. 200
seraph @seraphell.bsky.social · 20/04/2025The judean uprisings only began in 66AD. So the notion that Titus could have concocted this Jesus character as a way to try and pacify the rebellious jews doesn't hold up to even a lick of scrutiny. 000
seraph @seraphell.bsky.social · 20/04/2025This theory is completely asinine. The christian religious movement predates the uprisings in Judea that Titus fought against by several decades. You can see evidence of these in the writings of Paul, who is writing to established christian communities in the mediterranean as early as 48AD. 200
seraph @seraphell.bsky.social · 20/04/2025I am no stranger to healthy skepticism but it really feels like your objection to the mere *existence* of a man named Jesus is based more in contrarianism than anything else. Like come on man. Who started the christian movement if not the guy that literally the entire movement said started it? 100
seraph @seraphell.bsky.social · 20/04/2025The difference between all the gods you mentioned is that they were never physically present anywhere. Jesus was a man, like an actual physical person. And if a lot people say "There was this physical person who was walking around and his name was Jesus" I'm inclined to believe them. 000
seraph @seraphell.bsky.social · 20/04/2025These ancient gods represent natural forces or serve to explain aspects of the world as the ancient greeks understood them. They're probably evolutions of the most ancient animist spiritualities. That's very different from "We're the people who follow this guy, this flesh and blood man named Jesus" 100
