Anyone who doesn't understand that, who minimizes it to the tune of "everybody feels bad sometimes, get over it" isn't going to have anything realistic to offer you in managing or recovering from it. Afford them exactly as much cred as they earn. 633451
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 27/06/2025I want to thank everyone I’ve worked with since I’ve been with the channel, you’re all very talented and we’ve told some great stories together. All my best wishes to the team, I’m sure you will go from strength to strength. 130
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 27/06/2025Due to significant personal issues I’ve not featured on the channel for a while, or even as a guest on other channels. It's taken months for me to make this decision but I can only make worthy contributions to this project from a place of stability, and I’ve been getting worse, not better. 120
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 27/06/2025This is not a return to social media just yet, but I’ve just announced this on The Transmissions discord so I felt I should repeat it here: It is with much sadness that I’m announcing my departure from The Transmissions. 120

Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 18/06/2025The victim withdraws more and more, allowing the narc justification for their behaviour "well you never told me, how am I supposed to know?" And also control the narrative to the wider audience, by being free to construct their ideal image unchallenged. 010
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 18/06/2025A narcissist is vocal and builds an audience around them that isolates a victim. To the victim, everyone appears to be awed by the narc and to admit their own bad feelings or contradict the narc seems foolhardy or dangerous. 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 18/06/2025They are not, and they control this through phrasing such as: 'i would like to do this, but I'm happy if you want to do that'. To choose the latter immediately makes that person unreasonable. No one wants to suggest doing the opposite of what the narc has just established they would like to do. 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 18/06/2025To acknowledge this sets a precedent for admitting there is a healthy exchange between the parties and this is not a trade the narc is interested in acknowledging. They need people beholden to them, but they will use language that suggests they are open to alternatives. 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 18/06/2025This assertion is relentless and it's designed to cut off two main things. Firstly the victims problems are insignificant compared to the narcs. Secondly the narc is so 'giving' they are owed everything. It's common for them to not acknowledge anything the victim does. 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 18/06/2025What is often overlooked is how victims are maligned, not by what is said about them, but by what is omitted and by the careful construction the narcissist builds about their own struggles and the constant reiteration of their great qualities, and what they do for you. 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 18/06/2025Similar to the saying 'history is written by the winners' is the truth that narcissists control the narrative in abusive relationships. One thing a narcissist likes is the sound of their voice and their favourite subject is themselves, and how great they are. 110
Reposted by SequaiaLee Hurley @hleehurley.com · 18/06/2025Labour would never have been elected with their massive majority if they had run on the policies they are now wheeling out and there needs to be some sort of mechanism in a democracy to deal with a government that just lies to get elected. It can't just be 'ah well, have another go in 5 years'. 48415

Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 16/06/2025I experience gaslighting at home, in my former workplace, from the media and even the government. William may have been struggling with the difficulties of his modern world, but the industrial fires of Ironbridge Gorge are reflected in today's fascist landscape and it's still 'hell on earth'. 11/11 010
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 16/06/2025Understanding mental health and suicide in Williams time was not really a thing and whilst we think things are much better these days, narcissistic abuse is rife and victim blaming is a common occurrence. 10/11 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 16/06/2025All I would really need in order to improve my mental health is a less hostile environment. A way to access trans healthcare. Not being policed when I need to use a public toilet... I have received no help, but I've also asked for no help because I'm scared of the potential reaction. 9/11 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 16/06/2025Leaving my abuse trauma to one side, my low mental health is not because I'm a trans woman, it's because as a trans woman I have no place in society. If I were to tell a health worker I felt suicidal that would become the sole focus - medication, check ins, again even being sectioned. 8/11 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 16/06/2025Victims are almost always seen as the ones with the problem and are often further victimised by having their jobs taken away, their children removed from them, or even being sectioned. An abuser may be identified, but even under new guidelines rarely gets mandates therapy. 7/11 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 16/06/2025I don't believe William's suicide was due to alcohol alone, the alcohol certainly wouldn't have helped and was likely the cause of 'loosening him up' and causing him to drop the mask that he would usually have worn. He started exhibiting that 'madness' of a victim. 6/11 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 16/06/2025William (the subject of the article) was most certainly suffering some kind of trauma, hard to say if it was from domestic abuse or something else, but he was showing the hallmarks of victim behaviour. I've mentioned before how victims become withdrawn and/or erratic. 5/11 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 16/06/2025Suicide and suicidal ideation among trans people is well documented, but talking about it has its own pitfalls. Whoever I've spoken to, whether its abuse hotlines, doctors, therapists etc. the first question is always 'have you had suicidal thoughts.' But how safe is it to answer that? 4/11 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 16/06/2025In particular; family curses, repetition of history, Jungian archetypes - i.e. folklore meets mental health. My personal issues stem from abuse-related PTSD and, as a trans woman, the 'modern world' mentioned in @g0blinegg.bsky.social 's is something that resonates even now. 3/11 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 16/06/2025Over the course of the last year my personal situation has eroded my mental health and caused me to withdraw from performance and media work. When I haven't been dissociating I've fallen back on my passion for writing. 2/11 110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 16/06/2025This is a beautifully written account of a tragic event, and I recommend it to all my writer friends. The subject meets at the crossroads of folklore and mental health, both of which are current obsessions for me. A small tangential🧵 inspired by it. 1/11 120
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 15/06/2025The hostility (or at least perceived hostility) is worse than the waiting times. If you're already having a difficult time the last thing you want to do is put yourself in the way of further potential abuse. 020
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 15/06/2025It's not annoying at all. I need to be completely transparent though. I can't give an accurate estimate on how long the NHS procedure has taken because a lot of my wait has been due to my own trauma-linked paralysis and the inability, at times, to even obtain a GP. 220
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 15/06/2025I guess I'm trying to say, there's a dissonance between what I know to be true and how I feel, but wording like that doesn't help to lessen how I feel. And thank you, I appreciate it. 150
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 15/06/2025Also, as a kind of an aside. It's interesting that Sex Matters want to take the Scottish Government to court again because there has been 'too much focus on toilets and not on prisons etc.' And yet here are gender criticals literally waiting to ambush someone trying to use the toilet. 1170
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 15/06/2025I need to stress that I've had nothing but support from the people around me, but the self-hatred that accompanies the mental health issues trans people experience is only being heightened by this separation (imo). 3110
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 15/06/2025What led me to understand and adopt my gender is the same as someone who has managed to go through medical procedures to realise theirs, but all the time I'm starting to feel less valid. 170
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 15/06/2025My paralysis and isolation is already preventing me from pushing to get the medical treatment I need. The SC ruling and current state of government has dramatically increased my fear that I never will receive the needed medical treatment. 270
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 15/06/2025I'm told by friends that it's understandable why I might have these feelings as long as I realise that I'm 'as trans as anyone else'. Reading translucent's priority-based wording has definitely heightened my fear that I'm somehow lesser, even in my own community. 170
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 15/06/2025Over these last 3 years I've struggled a lot more as waiting lists have lengthened and my mental health has declined. Since the Supreme Court ruling I have barely left the house. Whether it's justified or not I've been feeling almost like a non-person. 160
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 15/06/2025I have always suffered with dysphoria, but my public experiences were, on the whole positive ones and it didn't matter so much that I was struggling to get hormone treatment (let alone surgery). Then 3 years ago I lost my job and house as I escaped an abusive relationship. 160
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 15/06/2025I've publicly presented as my identified gender for about eight years. I am on a GIC waiting list but cannot afford private treatment. 160
Sequaia @sequaia.bsky.social · 15/06/2025Ok I don't normally openly up about my personal situation online, but, who knows, maybe it will help someone. 160
