While I was dealing with sorting paperwork in the pee house, I found a receipt for a hibachi and sushi restaurant; turned out the restaurant was across the street from my hotel, so I figured the universe was telling me to have sushi for dinner. The biggest sushi rolls I’ve ever seen (this was two)!

Princess Donut decided to come up on the couch near-ish to me and demand scritches. She’s still near me, 20ish minutes later. This is unprecedented. Best treasure at the end of the rainbow!

Pro tip when it comes to fruit pies: mix up the filling and let it hang out in the fridge overnight. Use a slotted spoon to place the fruit in the pie shell, so you can control how much liquid goes in. In the words of Mary Berry: “No one likes a soggy bottom.”

Also I have a Very Good Friend who is helping me knit this child-sized sweater that has been the bane of my crafting existence for over a year. (Restarted the entire project more than once and have had to frog and reknit sections SO MANY TIMES.)

Every now and again it strikes me just how large Princess Donut is. She’s a big lady! Even aside from the floof she’s just literally big-boned.

Also I am very pleased that I was able to repurpose furniture we already had (aside from buying a new rolling printer stand that fits under my side desk).

It took me until I was 40 but I finally have a dedicated craft area that looks like it belongs to a grown-up.

Additional update on her majesty’s wellbeing: vet’s test results came back negative for anything concerning (as we had hoped), and the pet sitter was allowed a brief glimpse of her and her brother.

Update on her majesty’s health: ER vet believes her gastrointestinal woes are stress-related, and prescribed a bland diet and probiotics. Testing for other issues is ongoing. The pet sitter will be making additional visits to more closely monitor her royal highness’s health and food intake.

Just repurpose the old IKEA furniture, it will save money and be less wasteful! Reader, it did not save money OR waste. (But it DOES look nicer now, and is slightly more functional.)

An old IKEA Besta unit, in discontinued warm wood tone with an open shelf on top, a glossy white drawer in the middle, and open wooden door with hinges on the right, displaying a shelf with various bottles of liquor and mugs and other glassware below. Scuffs and other damage is visible on the top shelf area.

The same old IKEA Besta unit in warm wood tone, however the white drawer is gone and now there is no visible damage on the upper shelving area. A new glass shelf divides the upper open area, and the hinges on the lower door are now on the left side. The interior shelf is repositioned to place glassware on top and tall liquor bottles down low, and the interior is less cluttered.

In a move that should surprise no one, I stress knit another pair of speckled socks. My bad arm is mad at me.

Two hand-knit 1/4 height socks on purple 3D printed sock blocking forms: the toes of the socks are a bright blue-green tonal yarn, and the rest of the socks are knit from a variegated speckled yarn in warm tones; oatmeal/cream colored base with bits of blue, spring green, burgundy, and pink. The socks have wide ribbing on the tops of the feet, and around the ankle.

Finished socks - speckle is from Into The Whirled, solid is from Wild Violet.

Two hand knit socks: the toes and heels are a dark plum color, the main parts of the sock are a speckled, variegated yarn with a light gray base, and bits of warmer colors including plum, orange, dark green, and blue. The cuffs are quarter-height with wide ribbing, with a line of the purple contrast yarn at the top edge.

Resident puff-butt remains confused about presence of a tail on his new friend.
