wip

a sketch by Spindle of the character Tess, a halfling woman, standing and looking back while smoking. She's holding a contract parchment in her right hand, and her bag in the left. Behind her in the background is a newly built Steamtrain that's about to go for its first long ride (she is the project overseer)

Btw I did a Frieren thing and some other thing #sketch #frierenchallenge

Sketch of Frieren's head from an upward angle

Sketch of an athletic woman in a sports suit, bending into a nearly impossible position, drawn from a photo reference.
Some context: in Russian marketplaces, women's sportswear and shapewear are infamous for being overly sexualized and for models striking insanely difficult poses. Seeing this, I thought: if even the photo looks that impossible, what are the odds I'll be able to draw it believably? So I did.

.. .
i struggle with a brain that wants to stiffly copy whatever reference i'm using and one thing i've found helpful:
1. draw big blocky shapes over the reference
2. turn off ref and redraw big blocky shapes
3. draw in figure with big blocky shapes overlaid
Traducir post

photo of model posing as an elegant elf woman that ive blocked out with a chunky red brush

in a separate window ive redrawn the red blocks, then have drawn details over the red blocks, using the photo+red transparency as reference

final doodle of the figure drawing without the red blocking

"in 2026 DO NOT ask yourself whether your art is GOOD

instead ask:

- Is it SINCERE
- is it CATHARTIC
- was it FUN TO MAKE
- is it MADE BY ME

and don't forget to stay silly"
