Hoping for a victory, but I am somewhat prepared for the worst. Mainly because I have reached acceptance that Michie Stadium has been a house of horrors for the mighty Tulane Green Wave for 20+ years now. Also, Taco Bell always puts me in a good mood.

My brother comes and always tells Lulu she needs to be careful. I look over tonight... and I agree with him. I don't even know how she is staying up there.

There is peace and prosperity in paradise tonight. The Mighty Tulane Green Wave win 24-21, requiring a blocked field goal to seal the deal. Tulane has won 9 home games in a row (first time since 98-99). Also have won 9 straight games decided by 8 or less, longest in FBS.
The Tulane victory bell. First time they have won this at home since 2002. I was there the last time? That feels wrong.

With the ushering in of a new college football season, what's everyone thoughts on their team? I am thinking 8-4 for Tulane. I am not overly enthused about the qb position. I suppose if they get down to the true freshman 6-6 is in play. And if they get better qb play, 10-2 is possible.

Let's be real, if there is a comic book hero I should relate to, it is Booster Gold. Just makes everything worse when trying to help lol
Booster Gold, not the most popular DC hero, is exploring Rip Hunter's bunker. Rip appears to have lost it, and has written "Time is broken" and "Is all his fault" on boards, walls, etc...

Booster wonder who's fault? And then finds the pictures of himself. Dun dun DUN!

Hanging with a couple of people, watching sports and talking horse racing. Someone asked who is the most accomplished maiden (non-winner, for those who aren't up with this), and we decided to ask Google for an answer. AI is going great. Just completely wrong.
A section "Most money earned before breaking their maiden", and this is what we were looking for! First two sections, completely unrelated to the question.
Anyway, this section is a lie. Exaggerator probably earned 20,000 in his first start, then won his second. Rich strike probably earned 500 bucks in his first start, then won his second.

It is a sad day, my friends dog Onyx crossed the rainbow bridge. When they adopted him 13 years ago on NYE, some loser friend of theirs was the first person to meet him. He grew to associate me with late nights and pets all over. He was a good boy, and the world is less weird today. I hate it.

ESPN using AI to at the very least to research their articles, or to write them. I can't think of another reason they would use the St. Louis Eagles instead of the original Ottawa Senators in their article for which NHL teams have won the most cups. They were in St. Louis for one season.
The St. Louis Eagles in an article on which NHL teams have won the most cups. The Ottawa Senators won 4 cups before moving to St. Louis, where they lasted only one season and... did not win a cup. You will not see the St. Louis Eagles on any ring of the Stanley Cup.

Up 15 bucks on the day, including food and beer, and I wasn't rained on too much. All in all, an excellent day.
The 3, Scottish Lassie, running away from the 1, Limes Don't Lie. Didn't bet this race, because there just wasn't much of an opportunity if Scottish Lassie won. Which she did handily. And they are off! On the turf at Saratoga, a clean break for all. The winner (1) is blocked by the three horse at the front. The eventual second place (12) horse is blocked by the fifteen. One of three exactas I would hit on the day.

Tulane obviously had them all the way, never in doubt.

Another 6-76, maybe I needed someone else besides Uwe Blab. There are some fun names on the bottom. I was a big Von Wafer guy when he was in college. Also, I think this team beats my original team.
Reggie Jordan, Von Wafer, Quincy Poindexter, Joe Wolf, and Uwe Blab are also going 6-76.

All right, the greatest NES game as voted on by me: Dragon Warrior. The original Dragon Quest. The 1 on 1 battle between you and every monster on the map. Secrets! Poison swamps! Wizards! Dragons! Other fantastic creatures I had never heard of at the time! Flaming swords! This game had it all.
You, a guy walking around in blue armor with what appear to be horns sticking out your helmet. The two townspeople with blue hair and white shirts are conversing. You are in the main castle, your work? Never done.Thou hast put the Knight to sleep. Beat em up, beat em up.
The Knight is kind of blending in with the blue sky behind him, and appears to have a magenta mohawk. Yes, I know it is a decoration, but still.

The 2nd greatest NES game: StarTropics. This game was so much fun. The jumping wasn't impossible like some other NES games (cough, Castlevania, cough), but there was a lot to this game that was a decent challenge. Also, you could control a submarine, which was fun. It needs a modern sequel.
Mike, our intrepid hero, wandering around the tropical map with an overhead view. Pinkish snaillike enemies! Tricky platforming with imprecise Nintendo controls! A random button you have to hit to get through the room.

The 3rd greatest NES game (and the yes, the numbering has been correct the whole time!): The Guardian Legend. It's an action adventure game! It's a vertical scrolling shooter! It's both! I was very good at this game, almost never died. But it was confusing as hell in the adventure part.
Your character, Mya, is on the right in red clothes and boots. She can turn into a ship, but that is not important now. What is important is destroying that blue pyramid so you can either get a power up or go somewhere else.Vertical shooter time! You need to destroy the eyes that are shooting smaller eyes at you. Your ship is at the bottom of the screen, with a bright pink background.

The 4th greatest NES game: Mike Tyson's Punch Out. We got the original on clearance, so I was getting my ass kicked by Tyson when I made it that far. Which I struggled to do, because Soda Popinski and Mr Sandman were really difficult for me. But I did beat the game a few times.
Little Mac, punching the lights out of Bald Bull.

The 5th greatest game on the NES: The Legend of Zelda. I think this was the gold cartridge game, right? Perhaps I shouldn't do this off the top of my head. Anyway, I loved this game so much. So, so much. And it got so confusing, I just replayed the first part a ton until learning about the maze.
You knew this would be a screenshot. I couldn't resist it. An old man in a red robe telling our green clad Link "It's dangerous to go alone! Take this." And handing Link a sword. Link holding up a piece of the triforce. Or perhaps the whole triforce. I can't remember anymore. I should replay this.

The 6th greatest NES game: TMNT 2: The Arcade Game. My favorite beat em up on any console, I don't remember that many differences between the console and arcade version. One was the console would hit some slowdowns in spots. It was all good though.
Donatello struggled here in level 1, but does have Rocksteady (the rhino on two legs and with a gun) glowing yellow, so the possibility exists he can get out of this without losing a life. And April is in front of a very, very high desk. Did Shawn Bradley work there?Michelangelo laying a beat down on... I don't remember who. Some sort of mutated polar bear? Mutant Ninja Polar Bears has a nice ring to it.

The 7th greatest NES game, and one that got remastered recently I believe: Shadowgate. I was so, so bad at this game for the longest time. But I loved it. Getting just a bit further, finding new ways to die, getting roasted by the dragon. Great times. If you missed something early, you were screwed.
One of the death scenes (not the casket taking you to another dimension one) from Shadowgate. Close up of a skeletal faced grim reaper, with your inventory on the right. "It's a sad thing your adventures have ended here.""What's this? A wraith is standing in your way, barring your path!!"
Yup, a skeleton wrapped in an... orange cloak? Burnt orange maybe? You have to beat it, but how?

The 8th greatest NES game: Based Loaded. You could get the other team's best player thrown out of the game by hitting him his second time up. There were a couple of teams that seemed immune to this, but perhaps we never figured out the right guy. Also, the umps were named Yuk, Dum, Boo, and Bum.
Baker has just hit a home run, and is raising his fist as he round second. Kramer is on one knee, head buried in his glove. He should throw at Baker next AB, get him tossed. If he makes it that far.

Yuk, Dum, Boo, and Bum are in the bottom left corner of the scoreboard. My brother and I loved those names.Jersey is getting crushed by Omaha 16-0. Which is quite impressive, because Jersey had a strong lineup and Omaha had... nothing that I can remember. They were one of the teams I can't recall finding out who was the guy to hit.

The 9th greatest NES game: Abadox, The Deadly Inner War. I was never good at side scrolling shooters, but for some reason I had this game nailed. I did need the cheat to beat this game, because this was difficult. Also, I was fascinated by going inside the giant alien to fight it.
Ok, it is weird that a Saturn like planet is in the alien. And you are flying above its intestines. And that your rotating shield looks like croutons. You, an oddly colored greenish yellow suited guy, floating inside an alien. You should shoot the thing flying at the bottom.

The 10th greatest NES game: Tecmo Bowl. Yes, you only had four plays, and the defense calling your play blew everything up. But that is part of what made the game fun. Bo Jackson was ridiculous, we all know that. But there were ridiculous guys on defense too, including 4 or 5 who could block kicks.
The Minnesota Vikings with the ball on their own 13 yard line, facing off against the NY Giants. A big improvement over the Atari football game we had before this, where players were facing the wrong way presnap.
Also, Tommy Kramer is about to get killed by Lawrence Taylor here. Just trust me on this.

The 11th greatest NES game: Super Mario Bros 3: Mario Believes He Can Fly. So much about this game is fun, and the leaf power up was so cool. Mario can fly! And then a suit let you throw the hammers. Which I had a lot of fun with.

The 12th greatest NES: Maniac Mansion. I only played Maniac Mansion on the PC briefly until I got to college, so finding it on the NES was amazing. Yes, there were changes. I didn't really care about them, the game was still awesome. And the NES had an extra ending!
Wendy, a redhead with what was supposed to be a punk rock aesthetic, standing outside the open door to the mansion of maniacs. Her ending consisted of sending the meteor's manuscript to get published, and then all's well that ends well. That is a completely true sentence, I made nothing up.

The 13th greatest NES game: RBI Baseball. I am kind of surprised I have it this low, I am probably underrating it. First game I was aware of that had real players (pretty sure we had this before Tecmo Bowl anyway). Detroit, California, and Houston were my go to teams. We played this a lot lol.
Detroit batting versus Minnesota. The view is always behind the catcher when batting. And I think when pitching? Didn't play the single player much, honestly, so I may be wrong their. Alan Trammel is about to rip one off Frank Viola, I can feel it.California batting against Boston. Same view behind the catcher. Gary Pettis may be looking at the first pitch of the game against Roger Clemens.

The 14th greatest NES game, and last one I ever bought, Startropics 2: Zodas Revenge. A fantastic game that needs a modern sequel. And not just because the main character's name is Mike. Maybe this and the original were like Starfield, in that they were just made for me and apparently no one else.

The 15th greatest game for the NES: Dragon Warrior 3. Or Dragon Quest 3 for the younger crowd. After playing 1 forever, I... skipped 2? Didn't know about? Imagine my surprise we now had a party of heroes! Before the internet was wild. Almost as good as the first, but I liked being the lone hero.
Your party is fighting a kandar on the left, and kandar henchmen in the right and center. The henchmen look like classic knights with a lance and shield, while the kandar itself looks like a blue executioner with an axe. And green gloves and boots. And a pink hood and cape. And a pink speedo. No, really.Your party of four marching near a castle and the big dad's castle. But you can't get there yet, as it is surrounded by water.
