Hope they find the issue quickly and it is benign as they expect. ♥️ Thanks to @ljvv.bsky.social, We played Trench Crusade! It has lovely dynamic turns and smart streamlining for its genre. Castles of Mad King Ludwig is starting to show its age presentation wise but the game is still fun.

I really hope your copy of Neon Hope will come soon as we were all loving scenario 4 and can't wait to see the finale. Dickory was nice but the foil on the cards made us want to wear sunglasses. A Wild Venture and Moonstone keep being lovely experiences with tricky decisions.

We rented a big chalet in the Alps with 11 of our climbing buddies for a week of hiking/climbing fun. Pretty much every night they asked us for a new game to try, so we taught them some party game classics. (We also had a very lengthy and nostalgic game of Advance Wars during the car ride back)

Lion and Gazelle sit across from each other playing a game of Senet. Lion says that something has become overdone in games, and Gazelle asks what. Lion dramatically declares, “Anthropomorphic animals!” In the next panel, Lion says he understands why historical themes are under scrutiny. In another panel, Lion argues that every new game is now just cute critters, while Gazelle says he thinks that’s neat because it creates more empathy for animals. Lion counters that the world needs more empathy for humans right now. In the final panel, the Crow accuses Lion of only being annoyed because most anthropomorphic animals are depicted wearing clothes. Lion responds that he doesn’t want people thinking he’s a creep because he isn’t wearing pants. Gazelle thinks this is funny.

Extra comic, thanks to Deep Print Games! 💛 Bloom Kingdom has a whole extra layer of coolness for the botanists among us! But we can't help but wonder... how would the reproductive biology of this floral society work? 🐝🌺

A six-panel comic about the game Bloom Kingdom. Rachel explains that scoring is based on a central tableau and describes the players as gardeners creating a floral society. She asks whether Heinze will discard dandelions from his hand so his Canterbury Bells can bloom during scoring, or play a Blue Rose, which she calls a symbol for the unattainable. She then imagines players taking a strategic approach like the Carduus, or simply playing whatever they fancy, like the Dahlia. In the fifth panel, Rachel summarizes the rules: players play cards into the display and score the last two cards in hand each round. Heinze replies, “Easy for you!” and he asks which plants they were again. In the final panel, Rachel points out that they picked out most of the same plants for their garden last year, indirectly saying that he should have remembered that. Heinze doesn't respond and is looking at a card saying: "Ah! A unicorn! This I know!"

Just three games this week. Dice Pool Party was a hit with six! We enjoyed CrabRage at five but didn't expect to be thinking as much based on the excellent aesthetics. Lastly we played Gossip which Rachel illustrated! It's a very limited rerelease of a nearly thirty year old Splotter party game.

In the second panel, they watch in complete confusion at a commentary video of a Hive tournament game, where the commentators explain that both players start with the Ladybug and that almost 70% of games start this way, followed by an explanation of a defensive strategy involving the Ladybug and Queen. In the final panel, Heinze and Rachel realize that they barely know how to play Hive.

New comic! Every now and then one of us pitches a comic idea and the other says, "...you really shouldn't say that." We're very relieved that nobody was seriously hurt during the tornado at Gen Con and we hope people had a wonderful time.❤️ #gencon #boardgames

Heinze rushes in and asks, "Did you hear that there was some tornado damage at GenCon?" Rachel looks surprised and asks, "What?" In the next panel, Heinze says, "Luckily, no one seems to be hurt, but imagine how much damage it could've done to board games and RPGs. All those designers, publishers and content creators could have been gone!" In the final panel, Rachel replies, "Which would mean we would finally have time to finish our backlog of games and videos, while the board game industry would rebuild itself?" Heinze, looking uncomfortable, replies, "I mean yes, but you shouldn't say that..." Rachel immediately jumps to an inappropriate "silver lining" before Heinze points out that it really shouldn't be said aloud.
