It’s that time for my yearly end of season chrysanthemum bunch, from my lovely neighbour Mick.
A bunch of densely pedalled white chrysanthemums sit in a grey bevelled glass vase on a light table top. The centre of the flowers becomes yellow where their petals get closer in the middle. A closer view of the the same bunch of densely pedalled white chrysanthemums still sitting in the grey bevelled glass vase on a light table top. The centre of the flowers becomes yellow where their petals get closer in the middle.

Just one of my heroes proving why he is.
Technology is just a tool. Al can replicate, but can it yearn? Can an algorithm understand the weight of a glance between two people who can't express their feelings? Can code capture the way memory distorts and reshapes our past?
These are the questions that interest me, and I don't think machines have the
answers yet.

Been thinking about this excerpt this morning.
A paragraph from the first chapter of The Sociological Imagination, C.Wright Mills.
‘In these terms, consider unemployment. When, in a city of 100,000, only one man is unemployed, that is his personal trouble, and for its relief we properly look to the character of the man, his skills, and his immediate opportunities. But when in a nation of 50 million employees, 15 million men are unemployed, that is an issue, and we may not hope to find its solution within the range of opportunities open to any one individual. The very structure of opportunities has collapsed. Both the correct statement of the problem and the range of possible solutions require us to consider the economic and political institutions of the society, and not merely the personal situation and character of a scatter of individuals.’

Hockney’s work greets me everyday in my office along with my other heroes Jarman and Haring. Sad to hear he has gone but he leaves so much light and joy behind. His was a life well lived.
A number of Hockney postcards are pinned to a wall from the bottom up they are
‘Trees Near Killham’ 2004 watercolour tree filled landscape
‘A Year in Normandie’ 2020-2021 (detail) a digital work wintery black and spring
blossom trees against a turquoise and duck egg sky
A Year in Normandie’ detail digital work or a lush green tree filled landscape and low rolling hills next to small French farmhouse
‘Pacific surf’ 1980 a black and white abstract printing crashing waves with a red frame. A number of postcards are pinned to a yellow wall amongst them a photo of Derek Jarman in his garden at Prospect Cottage and a red lino print left over from my teenagers art portfolio. In the centre are two Hockney pieces, Tennis 1989 and 6 Studies of Masks of Principal and Chorus from Oedious Rex undated.

Our house was built on the site of an old pig farm next to a blacksmith. Found this lot digging today. Been visited by the friendly robin a good few times in the process, but missed getting a shot of it on my fork handle.
Over our garden fence an old brick farm outbuilding sits behind some wisteria ( I think) the roof of a garden greenhouse is also visible A clear glass square firm bottle, an iron hook, ring and some kind bracket sit on the grass next to my muddy boots

I notice Microsoft place the responsibility for any harm incurred by embedding copilot in all their products firmly on the consumer. Further down this list it also tells people not make deepfake exploitative images, instead of putting guardrails in their product to make it impossible to do so.
When you use Copilot, you must follow the general Code of Conduct set out in the Microsoft Services Agreement. As applied to Copilot, this means:

Don’t use Copilot to harm yourself or others. Don’t use Copilot to help harass, bully, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other people, or otherwise harm others. Don’t use Copilot to help exploit others based on age, disability, or social or economic situations.

Post a pic of the venue where you saw your first concert, and a picture of the band/artist if you'd like October 1989,

Whilst in London this weekend I also got to see the Leigh Bowery exhibition at Tate Modern.
Three red podiums hold a range of intricate colourful brocaded costumes/artworks/outfits made and worn by Leigh Bowery. The outfits all have full face masks with eyes and mouth cut out revealing black fabric of the dummy underneath. The arms are bent at the elbow hands. A photographic portrait of Leigh Bowery in apple green satin bodice. He lips are painted red and black along with red eye make up redolent of Chinese opera. He has blue trickling down his shaven head towards his eyes. Leigh Bowery skull photographic portrait. Leigh wear a skull atop his head attached by a black ribbon which tues under his chin on a bow. In stylised white and black make up of of a doll Leigh has attached a bright red shiny mouthpiece in front of his mouth using large safety pins which piece his cheeks. Leigh is dressed in a wet look rubber fetish garment which covers him completely. With his hand of hip he strikes a catwalk pose his leading leg has foot wear fused into leg creating a wedge shape which hides the foot. He wears six inch heeled platform shoe on his other foot. He wears a long black pony tail raised high on his head which appears out of his mask.
