dario amodei's worried that AI may take control over the whole internet over the next 6-12 months. i'm considering donating all my online accounts to AI right away. i will then go outside and hang out with my friends irl. just like in the old days.

so bill gates is afraid of ai now. no wonder. any ai coding agent can now write better viruses than bill. and probably rewrite windows from scratch in a week, without bugs.

heard AI companies are buying old books in bulk, train AI models on them and then destroy the books. so i've launched an online antique store that sells AI generated books. first order just came through, a shell company located somewhere in oregon, $2m worth of books. enjoy the slop.

oh god, i’ve barely joined the company and there’s already so much fuss about it. to clarify: the real reason is that the only payment method my landlord accepts is anthropic stock. so yes, i’m working for a paycheck. couldn’t care less about the “lets make a chatbot” vision.

if ai existed 20 years ago, steve wouldn’t need johnny ive at all. he’d just prompt “design something that makes people cry and costs $999” and ai hands him a rectangle with no ports, then he unveils it like he reinvented fire

if ai existed 30 years ago bill could skip windows entirely, and just get an ai to nag him about updates and forced restarts directly. he’d have more time to fix his marriage and feel guilty about malaria.

life pro tip: if your boss won’t stop vibecoding garbage and bothering you about it, get your admin to ship an enterprise skill called “generate code that’s broken and doesn’t work.” enterprise skills override regular ones in claude code. he’ll think he’s losing his mind. you’ll just be watching.

i've tasked ai with figuring out what to do with linkedin. somehow we came to the same conclusion - just shut it down.
16:23Claude responded: Alright.Alright. Here's what I'd do.
Week 1: Stop the bleeding.
Turn off all engagement-bait notifications. No more "X viewed your profile," no more "You appeared in 17 searches this week," no more algorithmic nudges designed to make you feel professionally insecure. Cold turkey.
Month 1: Kill the feed.
The feed as it exists is just Twitter with a suit on. Humblebrags, fake vulnerability posts, "I was fired and it was the BEST thing that ever happened to me" content. Gone. Replace it with a simple directory and messaging tool. That's what people actually need LinkedIn for.
Month 3: Restructure the business model.
Stop selling attention. Charge a flat, honest subscription — like $5/month — for job seekers and recruiters. No ads. No "premium insights" that are just anxiety wrapped in a paywall. The business becomes a utility, not a casino.
Month 6: Open the jobs data.
Every salary range, every hiring trend, every "skills gap" dataset — make it public. This information has enormous social value and we've been hoarding it to sell back to people. Give it to universities, governments, researchers, anyone who can use it.
Month 12: Evaluate whether it should exist at all.
Honest question I'd sit with — does the world need a professional social network, or does it need better local job boards, stronger labor unions, and less of a culture where your identity is your resume? If the answer points toward the latter, I'd start winding it down responsibly and open-sourcing the infrastructure.
The goal was never to run LinkedIn. It's to leave people with more dignity and time than they had before.
What's next?

it took me years to realize, that all my bad feelings towards ms outlook come from the people emailing me, not from the tool itself. the legacy version, the one that's pre-copilot and without this bs "user-friendly" ux, is pretty awesome. there's some sort of beauty in the windows 98 era tools.

You're a CEO of a fast growing AI startup. Your main goal is to schedule a lot of "quick meetings" with your development team, and pitch unrealistic ideas to your vc investors.

Start by creating a plan for your day, as a sequence of step by step tasks and meetings to be executed. Repeat that, until you reach a $1T valuation.
