It is not an HTTP 404 error but rather the CO2 level alongside other metrics indoors. 😉

GO IAQS Reaches Major Academic Milestone: Publication in Building and Environment
We are thrilled to announce a pivotal milestone for the Global Open Indoor Air Quality Standards (GO IAQS): our foundational paper, titled “A unified framework for global indoor air quality: transitioning from guidelines to actionable open regulatory standards,” has officially been published in the prestigious journal Building and Environment (DOI: 10.1016/j.buildenv.2026.115384). This landmark publication marks a critical step forward in our mission to revolutionize how indoor air quality (IAQ) is measured, regulated, and managed globally.

The Sleeping Giant in Apple’s Hardware: Why Cupertino Holds the Key to Universal Indoor Air Quality Tracking
For years, Apple has quietly seeded its ecosystem with a technology whose full potential has yet to be realized: Ultra Wideband (UWB). From iPhones and Apple Watches to HomePods and AirPods, spatial awareness is built into the hardware backbone of Apple's lineup. Designed primarily for precise device directional tracking and spatial audio, UWB enables devices to map where you are relative to other objects in your immediate physical space.

GO AQS Launches New Working Group to Develop the First Open Technical Standard for Low-Cost PM2.5 Sensors
GO AQS is excited to announce the launch of a new dedicated working group tasked with creating the first open technical standard for low-cost PM2.5 sensors (the electronic component). Target publication is set for 2027. Why Matters Air quality is dynamic. To capture localized pollution spikes, spatial variations, and real-time exposure, continuous, widespread measurement is essential. While low-cost PM2.5 sensors and monitors have expanded air quality monitoring globally, the market faces a core challenge: uncertainty.

Mapping the Invisible: Indoor-CO2 Atlas Launches Powerful Global Analytical Tools
In the realm of public health and building science, few metrics are as telling, yet traditionally invisible, as indoor carbon dioxide levels. High CO2 levels inside non-residential buildings like classrooms, cafes, offices, and public transit aren’t just a recipe for drowsiness; they serve as a primary proxy for poor ventilation and an increased risk of airborne pathogen transmission. For years, the…

The Two Lenses of Air Quality: Monitoring & Epidemiology
Understanding indoor air quality (IAQ) is not as simple as glancing at a single number. There is a fundamental complexity in how we interpret air quality data, often leading to a significant gap between epidemiological perspectives, which are health-based limits, and monitoring perspectives, which focus on real-time action at least for GO AQS. We believe that bridging this gap is essential for creating truly healthy indoor environments.

So, my simple answer is to go with PM2.5 as it is easier to create an impact factor for the calculation based on the scientific literature.

Sotirios Papathanasiou @seetheair.bsky.social · 27/06/2026
Indoors, CO2 can be a good indicator of ventilation, which means accumulation of other gases like VOCs but also pathogen airborne transmission. Humidity plays a role tool this as well.

Btw, I have been using your app for a while now. There is a complexity to your answer as sometimes we have the synergetic effects of temperature and air pollutants. If we have to keep things simple PM2.5 is very well studied.

GO IAQS Unified Framework Update: Climate Change Under the Roof
We are pleased to announce a vital update to the GO IAQS Unified Framework. Under our Good Practices, we have introduced a crucial new section #8: "Climate Change - Heat and Air Pollution: A Compounding Health Crisis." While conversations around climate change often focus on the outdoor environment, this new addition highlights a critical, overlooked reality: climate change profoundly shapes the safety of our indoor spaces, where we spend the majority of our daily lives.

The Silent Lifeline of IoT: Why Compression is the Future of Air Quality Monitoring
For years, the Internet of Things (IoT) conversation has been dominated by sensors, cloud platforms, and the flashier world of AI analytics. While AI remains the current "buzzword," the reality is that millions of IoT devices are already quietly working in the background, providing the essential sensor data that powers our modern world. However, as these deployments mature and scale, a critical bottleneck has emerged: the cost and physical limits of data transmission.
