**CONTROVERSIAL UPDATE** This needs some discussion. Adele - Make you feel my love 1.4 billion Bob Dylan - Make you feel my love 47 million Now this is why I think this is a controversial comparison. Bob Dylan's version is on piano and uses a stand up bass, Adele uses piano and strings. The […]

BIG NEWS PEOPLE!!! In my quest to find the ultimate acoustic cover I may have found the first serious contender to Hurt - Cash using the "Spotify listens" metric. Heartbeats - The Knife 105 million Heartbeats - Jose Gonzalez 676 million At a 6.5 to 1 ratio. It is a clear example of the […]

People will think 'it's your own fault', but I would never have gone had I known what could happen. Says person who specifically saught cheap X surgery against a mountain of evidence that cheap whatever surgery is a generally bad idea.

@Scotter Man who sold the world is a good shout. But Jonny Cash outperforms: - Nirvana - 693 million - David Bowie - 158 million - Cash - 720 million - NIN - 123 million Pearl's Jams own acoustic version doesn't come close. I'm not sure what acoustic version you are referring to for Wish You […]

Mad World by Gary Jules covering Tears for Fears was a possible candidate but I think the assumed synth strings and effects disqualify. Gary Jules' version outplays the original by 50%.

Johnny Cash's Hurt seems to me, on the surface to be the textbook example of what I assume. Original version has been largely eclipsed in the public sphere. Spotify plays of Cash's eclipse the original 6 to 1.

Nirvana's 'Where did you sleep last night?' is for me ineligible for example. The original song stems from the 1870's and the Nirvana's version draw's largely from a recording made in the 1940's that was all acoustic.

I'm setting out to define what is the worlds greatest acoustic version of a song. Largely looking at songs that were originally non-acoustic song and then the acoustic version has become the definitive version of that song. Definitive can be a little bit of a subjective measure. Example. I […]

"A river home to saltwater crocodiles to host Olympic and Paralympic rowing events at the 2032 Brisbane [...] passed an independent technical assessment into its suitability." Followed by.... "The assessment did not consider the crocodiles" Beautiful writing!

Companies should be banned from offering prices as "X/month" if what you have to pay for that is a single payment yearly.

I think an emergency message that just went out in Wales was sent early before someone added an English translation. I've provided it below for convenience: There is a serious risk of it getting hot in here across the nation. Residents are advised to take off all their clothes and let it all […]

Finally Prodigy, whilst a kids show is solid Star Trek and actually worth at least one watch through for any commited Star Trek fan. Sometimes it feels a little too JJ-Abrahmsy. I once said about it "so much lens flare. We must protect the retinas of our children" I was not a fan of the […]

Next comes Academy.... but one note.... Episode 1 of Academy was some of the worst trek I've ever seen. It was terrible. Horrific. Honestly, it should be expunged from the universe. It allowed its genre to get in the way of good story telling. But the whiplash to Episode 2 couldn't be more […]

So far... 1. Lower Decks 2. Strange New Worlds. 3. Picard 4. Discovery Picard goes ahead of Disco purely on the redemption that S3 did. Otherwise it would be last on this list.

Season 5: A lack of Dettmer and Owo this season left me really frustrated. This was only marginally redeemed by the fact that we at least get to see one Lt Cmdr Gen Rhys take the con. That it took this long for any of the non-main cast bridge crew ensemble taking the helm remains Discovery's […]

Discovery Season 4: Whilst the character bloat remains I largely enjoyed it. Partly because the cast doesn't really change and it gets a chance to breath a little bit. I was left warning more Colbert, more Owo. I wanted more Dettmer. This was a little bit of a redemption season. A tighter […]

Discovery Season 3: Bloat and churn continues. This season is and ensemble of ensembles. It sucked. Poor writing or direction. Blu del Barrio great addition. David Ajala, okayish. Ian Alexander, pretty meh. Oded Fehr, wasted. David Cronenberg, monotone gets old. Bright spots: More Captain […]

Discovery Season 2: I am torn by this season. Its a set up Strange New Worlds. For that I'm appreciative of it. But it comes at the cost of deepening things with Discovery crew. And that's not the only bloat. Example: I love that the season introduces Reno, her character was amazing. But you […]

Discovery, Discovery, Discovery. Every season is flawed in its own unique way so going deeper here. Season 1: Strong opening. But what did they do to the klingons?? Lorca is amazing. Georgiou is amazing. Skipping the entire klingon war was certainly A CHOICE. I admit making the serial story […]

Picard Season 3 remains the pinnacle of the the whole era but Season 1 & 2 were largely terrible. Even though they came with some high points. Whilst mortal Q in season 2 ended up being a mistake, the relationship between Q and Picard was some of the best but neither those small bright spots or […]

Ranking Kurtzman-era trek is hard if you have to take the whole of of each series. Lower Decks. Easily the joint best. Consistent good story telling that brought something new to the franchise. Sitting alongside Strange New Worlds has been consistent with a brilliant cast. But after that […]
