And, least anyone throw more aspersions check the minutes - we put both last years successful board candidates on the .nz committee. They’re in the room where it happens, where the sausage gets made. We build a future together with good process. Look who seconded: internetnz.nz/assets/Archi...

Who needs cloud seeding when you can go cloud deleting. www.gov.uk/government/n...
A gov.uk webpage screenshot saying:

HOW TO SAVE WATER AT HOME
• Install a rain butt to collect rainwater to use in the garden.
• Fix a leaking toilet - leaky loos can waste
200-400 litres a day.
• Use water from the kitchen to water your plants.
• Avoid watering your lawn - brown grass will grow back healthy.
• Turn off the taps when brushing teeth or shaving.
• Take shorter showers.
• Delete old emails and pictures as data centres require vast amounts of water to cool their systems.

Wtf sort of timeline have I found myself in. … “In this paper, we identify directions in the model's activation space—persona vectors—underlying several traits, such as evil, sycophancy, and propensity to hallucinate.” arxiv.org/pdf/2507.21509
Figure 1: Persona vectors and their applications. Top: Our automated pipeline takes as input a personality trait (e.g. “evil”) along with a natural-language description. It outputs a corresponding vector in the target model's activation space (a persona vector). Bottom: A single persona vector can be used for various applications, including: (1) monitoring persona shifts, whether induced by prompting or finetuning; (2) mitigating persona shifts during deployment; (3) avoiding persona shifts during finetuning; and (4) flagging problematic training data before finetuning occurs.

I am unreasonably annoyed about this in a government weather app. Metservice ad-free monthly subscription.
A screenshot of the metservice (nz government weather forecaster) asking and explaining a monthly fee for advert free use.

I was so confused this morning to see a newspaper headline with an ip address in the newspaper sport section this morning…
Newspaper sport section page.
Headline: “118, 109, 43, 133 not out “
Subhead: “but run machine Williamson’s can’t do it alone when Black Caps face Australia”

The greatest workplace sin has been surpassed. No longer is “reheating fish curry in the break room microwave” the worst, for we now have this!
Slack message: “To whomever is leaving the crunchy peanut butter lids on the smooth peanut butter jars, I'm not impressed.”
