Anyway, here are 10 of my favorite covers in the last 6.8333 years. Jeremy kinda lets me riff however I want with a topic and has only given me notes twice. It always feels like I'm treating myself when I get to do one, and I hope my excitement for each game comes across.

The only real way to play Daytona USA in 2026 is in a bygone arcade in an ancient resort town in a sit-down cabinet where the monitor is washed out from decades of salt air blowing in from the nearby ocean...

Don't listen to infinitely-generated sound-gruel. There is a world of music made to speak to the human soul. Find even one recording that forces you to stop and take it in. Listen to a great song every morning and have a beautiful day.

Everything from Super Mario Bros to Super Metroid was an interative step of woah this is amazing, so it's hard to put a pin other than SMB, but I can remember the moment of life I committed to gaming and dropped other hobbies was after Chrono Trigger and waiting in a frenzy for Final Fantasy VII.

If you make games, make a bespoke indie game for someone's birthday. It could basically be Chase The Chuck Wagon but if they like games it'll flip their gourd. If you're a musician, record a birthday song, interpolate the melody into the person's favorite genre; pretend to be their favorite singer.

This what the lyrics of Grateful Dead's "Franklin's Tower" are referring to. The titular tower is a poetic metaphor for the dam, commissioned as it was by Benjamin Franklin's nephew Greg, and "roll away the dew" is a double-entendre for both the held-back river water and the end of summer humidity.

I think this just means he spent a lot of time on the job talking to an AI girlfriend chatbot, got called out by his superior, tried claiming it was for "ideation" and had to stick by that claim for documentation and the production process, and it's spun wildly out of control.

So few if any bands were able to create such a great song 25 years into their career, as vital to the sound of the time it was made as it was in the arc of their artistic ourve. If you were out dancin' 25 years ago today, you knew it. If you were holed up in a depression void, you knew it.

In my Ravenous elation I've picked up Metroid Prime 4 again. I'm sorry to say I do not think this is a good game™. If it gets good, it's taking its time. I'm glad to have it rather than not, it is better® than Other M, but marred by too many issues, and Miles being a Samus gleeb is not at the top.

OK but the next Metroid game has to be over-the-top campy, the villain is Mother Brain from Captain N: The Game Master and she's always showing up and yapping away and reading Samus for slime, and she has a goofy sidekick who talks like the Captain N Mega Man.

The Appollonian mode of art requires suspension of disbelief in order to see/hear something as a perfect expression, or else the veil could lift and the work be exposed as absurd. The Dionysian mode requires some framework running counter to the ecstatic, or else it just becomes a public nuisance.

About 20 years ago my lifetime partner told me about this movie she used to love and watch all the time as a kid named The Worst Witch. She hadn't seen it in probably 15 years, and I went out and found it on DVD at Borders. Imagine my surprise and delight at seeing the Grand Wizard scene unexpected.

The Very Best Of The Monkees was the first CD I ever bought with my own money. I watched their TV show reruns and saw them live sans Nesmith. Earlier I was -this close- to buying Dookie but went in a slightly different direction with life. Beck's Odelay was the first contemporary music CD.

One time on NYE 2004-05 I was at a concert on an emu farm near Everglades City buying a Dead shirt from a guy surely born in the '80s who told me this yarn about how he was involved in a scheme with Bob Dylan and Ken Kesey to manufacture LSD. There is a fun kind of crazy you can just walk away from.

Wait so the CEO position is just a front to keep a small class of often not-particularly-bright or proficient white men obscenely wealthy by extracting all the value of labor from actually talented and/or hard-working people just so they can galavant through the world like ye olde feudal lords?

When Splatoon came out on WiiU, I was in my early 30s and put a lot of time into it and I dare say I was top-tier in that game. Then I didn't play 2 much and skipped 3. Now, 10 years after my peak with the game, all this gives me motion sickness.

I'm all out of sneering odium for now, but this petulant cur has a favorite Grateful Dead song for the day and it's Cumberland Blues at the Miami Jai-Alai Fronton in June 1974. Is it just me or does Jerry have a Mike Bloomfield influence that doesn't get talked about?

It's so tiring that human society repeatedly has take a giant step back to handle the jamokes. It's like we're at Disney World, I want to get to Space Mountain before it closes, they would enjoy Pirates Of The Caribbean if they could get there, but they keep going back on It's A Small World!

Honestly, if you've ever been a fan of space rock, shoegaze, or any kind of progressive psychedelic extreme drug rock music, and you've never listened to a Grateful Dead concert from late 1967 to mid 1969, then you should do yourself a favor and fix that.

When Roland Barthes writes in La mort de l'auteur* that passive, receptive music, sound music, is become the music (that of concert, festival, record, radio): playing has ceased to exist" - is it a narrative prove voice saying it? Is it Barthes the individual man? Is it a generalized societal fact?
