Here’s another painting I did at Bad Art Group today. This is a watercolour of Stitch. (And the figurine used as a model)
The model. An eraser of Stitch from Lilo n Stotch. Whimsical watercolour of Stitch from Lilo n Stitch

Do you like my new glasses? I just got them. I’m supposed to be able to see better but I can’t see anything.
It’s me, wearing an opaque mask with large eyes drawn on to it.

Important message... part 2 of 2. By changing just a few pixels, it could be this much better symbol:
The same three dots - but now the middle dot has been trimmed down into a crescent, smiley shape.

the effect is that the symbol is now a really cute but weird little face with two big eyes and a happy smile.

I found some courage. (Rum. It’s called Rum). I found some courage and went back to that fridge. I opened it nice and slow. Disappointed that all I found was a tiny portal with John Cusack staring back at me. “Cusack!” I said — but I swear the words turned to […] [Original post on mastodon.cloud]
With the small fridge door open, all we see is John Cusack, crouched down, leaning forward. And all he says is Malkovich?

Pause right there buddy. If you thought this small fridge door was a portal to another universe — you are wrong. You are wrong because the sign on the hospital fridge says “STOP” “No entry through these doors”. But the mad and the wise and the engineers we […] [Original post on mastodon.cloud]

Babylonians were using Pythagoras theorem at least 1000 years before Pythagoras.
Panel 1, news article headline: “Pythagorean Theorem Found On Clay Tablet 1,000 Years Older Than Pythagoras It predates Pythagoras by over 1,000 years.”

Panel 2 and 3: Murray, the manager of Flight of the Conchords explains a situation to the band: “The Polish version is what's known as a cover version. Ok? Now, the only problem is this cover version came out 13 years before the Crazy Dog's original version.”

People worry AI will replace all artists and creators. To counter this, I present my best cartoon. It shows an unrecognisable Doc Brown from “Back to the future” illegibly shouting “Ears? Where we’re going we won’t need… ears!” And an unrecognisable Marty […] [Original post on mastodon.cloud]

Ambrose Bierce wrote an absolutely scathing satire of SpaceX, in “fantastic fables” americanliterature.com/author/ambro…
Flying-Machine

AN Ingenious Man who had built a flying- machine invited a great concourse of people to see it go up. At the appointed moment, everything being ready, he boarded the car and turned on the power. The machine immediately broke through the massive substructure upon which it was builded, and sank out of sight into the earth, the aeronaut springing out barely in time to save himself. "Well," said he, "I have done enough to demonstrate the correctness of my details. The defects," he added, with a look at the ruined brick-work, "are merely basic and fundamental.” Upon this assurance the people came forward with subscriptions to build a second machine.

The Northside of Brisbane is whole other country. They do things different there.
Single vanishing point perspective photo of an aisle in a supermarket, actually quite indistinguishable from one on the south side of Brisbane or any supermarket in Australia.

I've been thinking about those nasty defamation cases that Australia has seen over the last few years. Ben Roberts Smith, Bruce Lehrmann, Senator Linda Reynolds, and why in most cases they tend to push on, even as their case gets weaker and flimsier. I thought […] [Original post on mastodon.cloud]

Dear brains trust: What opensource javascript libraries or tools can one use to *publish*/share both: - a historical document, along with - the textual transcription of that document For example, at Trove, you can click on the scanned image and see the transcription. (And you can even edit it)
Screenshot of trove showing a scan of a newspaper article from 1941, alongside the text representation.
