lmao
GitHub comment by user mprimi (NATS contributor), 2 years ago:

“I'm not going to comment on the official Jepsen audit, but I can tell you that for some time we have been hammering NATS and JS with a Jepsen-like approach (e.g. invariant testing with fault injection). Jepsen(-like) testing is great to uncover bugs in code that deals with fault-tolerance and recovery, that are hard to test otherwise.
We've also been relying on Antithesis
(https://antithesis.com/) find even more insidious issues. Antithesis is like Jepsen on steroids and can help to seek and destroy one-in-a-million heisenbugs that are so hard to track down in distributed systems.”

It’s infuriating to see engineering being accused of being opaque, when it’s consistently the most transparent and collaborative department in an organisation (RFCs , ADRs, post-mortems, version control, pull requests, etc.)

Optimization is the vital lifeblood of our industrial world, and its poison.

you cannot have an "injection attack" in a system with no formal distinction between data and instructions. what you actually have is an "everything is instructions" model and a failure to isolate untrusted inputs from the elevated privilege of access to private information

@devongovett.bsky.social Huge appreciation for how powerful an abstraction React Aria Components is.
Code snippet for a react component:

function TabsRouter({ children }: PropsWithChildren) {
  const [searchParams, setSearchParams] = useSearchParams();

  const selectedKey = searchParams.get('tab') ?? null;

  function onSelectionChange(key: Key) {
    const newParams = new URLSearchParams(searchParams);
    newParams.set('tab', key.toString());

    setSearchParams(newParams);
  }

  return (
    <TabsContext.Provider value={{ selectedKey, onSelectionChange }}>
      {children}
    </TabsContext.Provider>
  );
}

someone was trying to explain to me why chatgpt had helped them write some code, and it kinda helped me put into words why i just don't value the approach i argued that it didn't help them write code they understood, and they argued that was the entire point—no learning, no doc reading, just code

> The Android team has observed that the rollback rate of Rust changes is less than half that of C++ This is a sleeper hit of a quote.
