Marie Tharp mapped the ocean floor, revealing the Mid-Atlantic Ridge's rift valley, crucial to understanding plate tectonics. Her work, initially dismissed, revolutionized marine science! #marinescience #womenshistorymonth web.whoi.edu/womens-comm/...

My kinderGARtner (6-year-old daughter) tells us about gars! While watching our fish tank (aka The Gar-den), I asked her to talk about gars for a bit. Proud parent 🥹 #SciComm #GarWeek

Last week, the Santa Ana River Symposium took place at ESRI in Redlands, CA. Mariana, a graduate student in my lab, gave an excellent presentation on our research into the Santa Ana sucker mitochondrial genome. She did an outstanding job!

Unfortunately, I will not be at SICB this year. However, I have colleagues presenting work, which I have contributed to the projects, and an REU student presenting our Stichaeid (prickleback fish) gut microbiome work this past summer at FHL. #SICB2025
