Deloitte Football Money League 2026 puts our revenue for 24/25 at £490.5m and wages at £353m. Yes, our wage bill went up. (£:€0.84)

Some UEFAnomics. According to The Times every List A eligible player count towards creating a positive transfer balance, even those who weren't previously registered. Neither Fofana nor Lavia were registered, but the latter is now eligible for our List B so he shouldn't add to our List A cost.

Hmm, he'd take up an international loan slot. Washington already took one, as he's still on loan at Santos until Dec/Jan. Paez, Amougou, and potentially Penders to Strasbourg would be another three. Leaves just one slot.

With City and Inter out, not reaching the final would be a bit embarrassing. It’d push our CWC income above $100M.

Aston Villa have sold their women's team to V Sports, which owns the club, alongside a minority stake to new investors. Allows #AVFC to record profit in 24-25 accounts - and their PSR calculation. Analysis from me alongside @david-ornstein.bsky.social's story, here: www.nytimes.com/athletic/646...

Aston Villa agree deal to sell women’s team to owner V Sports
The Athletic reported last week that Villa were exploring the option of selling their women’s team to help with PSR.

Malo Gusto in midfield should be a sackable offence.

If this game was played on June 30th but ended after midnight UK time due to the delay, then the accounting gets a bit wonky since it rolls into a new fiscal year. 🤓🤪

This is fine. Madueke just played 70 mins last game and Andrey Santos is just a backup to Enzo F. (For now anyway)

Knowing is we'll brief the fee, which will likely be disgusting, 15 mins before the game tonight.

Sebastian Anderssen @sebanderssen.bsky.social · 28/06/2025
He's cup-tied for the CWC(13 mins played lmao), so we can't add him to our squad if we beat Benfica tonight. Same goes for Estevão Willian, but looks like either Benfica or us will play Palmeiras in the QF anyway.

Relatively big sale for someone like S'bourg, but they could be in for a rough season. Replacing Petro, Diarra and Santos is a tall order. €35.5m (including add-ons) is a bit over half of Strasbourg's total revenue for 23/24 (€67.2m).

Sebastian Anderssen @sebanderssen.bsky.social · 25/06/2025
Beating Benfica on Saturday would earn Chelsea another $13.125m, bringing the total to roughly $53m/£39m. All of which should be recognised in 2024/25, with any additional prize money recognised in 2025/26.

I'd be happy to trade Nkunku at BV + £10m for Garnacho, would value the latter at ~£50m. No profit for us, but UEFA would eliminate any profit from any quasi-swap deal anyway. United would book a £50m accounting/PSR profit, and £10m UEFA profit that's irrelevant since they're not in Eur.

Sebastian Anderssen @sebanderssen.bsky.social · 08/06/2025
Well, £15m is not £25m. I can live with that fee, assuming we haven't given him too long of a contract.
110
Sebastian Anderssen @sebanderssen.bsky.social · 07/06/2025
He is another Delap-esque signing. He is fairly low risk, high reward at that fee, but he won't improve our starting XI next season. Anything below £35m is fine.

Sebastian Anderssen @sebanderssen.bsky.social · 07/06/2025
His NBV is slightly more than £5m, but I understand why we extended his contract last summer. B'mouth didn't pay a loan fee, but covered his wages. His extension also cut his yearly amort roughly in half. I reckon we saved more than £15m by extending his deal and sending him on loan to B'mouth.

No surprise, Man Utd didn’t have to pay Chelsea £xM just because Mount played in the EL final. Sell-on fees and contingent consideration totaling only £55k kicked in after March 31.

Some napkin math when it comes to our GKs. Assuming we sign Maignan for £22.5m Maignan was reportedly close to extend his deal with Milan in Feb, so I've used the reported figures as an estimate for his wages. (160k/w gross, 3+1y) Kepa is just there as a yardstick.
010
Sebastian Anderssen @sebanderssen.bsky.social · 03/06/2025
Maignan will prob carry a yearly cost of nearly £18m. Any lower would mean we gave him a stupidly long deal that'll come back and haunt us. Kepa by comparison carried a yearly cost of ~£21m before his last extension. Obviously a shorter deal so less resources committed, but he isn't cheap.
000
Sebastian Anderssen @sebanderssen.bsky.social · 03/06/2025
£20-25m + maybe add-ons on top for Maignan. Hmm, that's steeper than I'd like. (It's not a market opportunity if you're going to pay more than what he's worth)
000
Sebastian Anderssen @sebanderssen.bsky.social · 03/06/2025
UEFA will eliminate any profit from such arrangements. We would still have to buy at fair market value, but any profit would be removed from Strasbourg's UEFA accounts. It may not be a big deal for S'bourg, but it's something to be aware of.

Sebastian Anderssen @sebanderssen.bsky.social · 03/06/2025
I need someone to explain to me why we aren't looking at Bulka, who's reportedly available for less than €15m. Like if you're going to get a GK then that strikes me as a much better deal than Maignan.
110
Sebastian Anderssen @sebanderssen.bsky.social · 03/06/2025
Maignan was reportedly close to signing a new deal with AC Milan worth €20m net over 4 years. I believe that's around £160k/w gross. 🤨🤔😶
000
Sebastian Anderssen @sebanderssen.bsky.social · 03/06/2025
I'd probably only be interested in Maignan if we could get him on 2+1 year deal. £100k/w + 25% bonus. Wouldn't pay more than £15m, maybe stretch it to £18m if you include some add-ons. Not particularly interested in being stuck with an expensive asset we can't get rid off. A Sterling/w GK gloves.

Sounds more like the original deal was a loan deal with an option + (contingent) loan fee, rather than an obligation + penalty fee. You'd think if there was an obligation we'd have an agreement with Sancho in place already. (I'd pay the penalty fee and move on)

And this is where I'm at, obviously, not that long since I posted it. The big question isn't about Delap, but who he's a second to; early window noises seem to suggest they're looking to move Jackson on and get a new main 9 with Delap as the rotation piece. He can't be your CL striker right now.

Sebastian Anderssen @sebanderssen.bsky.social · 29/05/2025
I’m pretty sure Delap will cost (significantly) more than £30m. His low release clause, relative to his value, allows for higher wages and agent commissions. All his suitors know the full cost to sign him and are prepared to pay it, fwiw.
