I just invested in a smaller camera to have in my pocket rather than lugging around a camera bag. It's a 2nd hand A6700 with the flare magnet Viltrox 28mm f/4.5 fixed aperture lens that I bought a while back and never fell in love with. As this is an APS-C body, my lens behaves like a 42mm f/6.7!
Two white flowers on long, arching stems, lit by bright sun against a blurred background of deep blue sky and dark green foliage. The open flower on the left shows a purple-marked throat and orange-brown stamens, with water droplets on its upper petal. The one on the right is still a closed bud.A hand holds a black Sony A6700 camera in a sunlit garden. Mounted on it is a very thin Viltrox 28mm f/4.5 pancake lens, barely deeper than a body cap, with a tiny front element. Shrubs, purple flowers and a green bench are out of focus behind.

I was in a 12th-century village in August and thought I'd do some street pics. When I got back to the rental, the best picture in the batch was me putting an ND filter on. So, if you love medieval architecture, I give you... My hand! #selfportrait #photography #ECK
Black and white 12mm self-portrait of a single hand, held close over the lens with the palm facing the camera and fingers splayed wide. The extreme distortion stretches the fingers and thumb so they radiate from the palm like the spokes of a wheel, with the forearm running off to the bottom left. Strong sunlight picks out the creases and skin texture of the palm. Behind the hand, a stone village house and trees stand against a dark sky, and a heavy vignette darkens the edges of the frame.

Mallard in the Loing. The ducks near the bridge at Grez-sur-Loing are so used to humans that they often approach to see what you have for them. #BlueSkyMonday #EastCoastKin #Photography
Close-up colour photograph of a female mallard dipping the tip of her bill into deep blue water. Her brown and black streaked feathers and amber eye are sharply detailed. Rings of ripples spread from the bill, a small swirl of green shows in the disturbed water beneath her, and her dark reflection lies below.

The vaulted porch at the 12th-century Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Laurent church in Grez-sur-Loing #stunday #ClassicMono #ECK #ICM
Black and white photograph looking through a stone archway into a vaulted church porch, toward a dark doorway framed by carved columns and receding arches. The camera was rotated during the 3s exposure, so the stonework swirls in circular blurs around the still, dark door at the centre. A bright slab of sunlight lies across the floor in the foreground.

The bridge in Grez-sur-Loing has been painted so many times. I liked the play of sunlight under one of its arches. #BlueSkyArtShow #ClassicMono #ECK
Black and white photograph of a single arch of an old stone bridge over a river. The underside of the arch is in deep shadow, covered with rippling lines of sunlight reflected up from the water. A sunlit stone pier meets the dark river and its broken reflection shimmers below. Leaves frame the left edge.

I'm enjoying taking pictures again! #vivianmaier #reflection #b&wphotography
A black-and-white self-portrait taken in a convex traffic mirror mounted on a diagonally striped warning post. The rounded rectangular mirror shows a distorted reflection of a hedge-lined road, a stone wall, and a behatted photographer with a camera raised to his eye, warped by the mirror's curvature. Two dents make circular lens-like reflections in the lower right of the mirror image.

The entrance to the governor's house at Fort Buoux in the Luberon
Black-and-white photograph looking up through the ruined entrance to the governor's house at Fort de Buoux, Provence. Weathered stone arches and walls frame a narrow arrow-slit window, with the broken top of a stone tower visible against the sky beyond.

A beautiful 1st-century sculpture of Hermaphrodite in the Musée Bonnat-Helleu in Bayonne. Myth has it that the son of Hermes and Aphrodite was seen bathing by nymph Salmacis. She fell in love and asked the gods that they never be separated, so they fused them into one being. #sculpture #marble #art

Three survivors of medieval Capbreton: the Maison du Rey (15th C), where Henri de Navarre, future Henri IV, stayed in 1583; and the timber-framed Maisons des Anglais, among the last traces of a once-thriving port at the Adour's old mouth. #Landes #History #Capbreton
Maison du Rey: Corner house with plain rendered stone ground floor and a jettied upper storey in red-painted timber framing with Saint Andrew's crosses, small-paned windows with red shutters, and a carved stone doorway. A plaque on the wall reads "Maison du Rey." 15th century, Capbreton; hosted Henri de Navarre, future Henri IV, in 1583.Maison des Anglais: Half-timbered house with exposed brown cross-bracing over cream render, five shuttered windows along the upper floor, ground floor converted into a shopfront (estate agency) with modern glazing. Probably 16th century, Capbreton.Maison des Anglais: White-rendered two-storey house with dark red-brown timber framing in cross-brace pattern, upper floor jettied out on carved corbels, shuttered window flanked by a decorative wrought-iron grille below. Probably 16th century; now houses the Maison de l'Oralité et du Patrimoine, Capbreton.

A bull and his babe. I watched for a while. They were inseparable. Occasionally, she would lift her tail so he could sniff her gear. This is bovine foreplay. As she approaches oestrus, she releases pheromones. An organ in his mouth detects her cycle days before she is ready to be mounted. He waits!
A well-hung bull and a cow stand side by side. He is tending her. He stands close by, so no other bull can approach while she approaches oestrus and can be mounted.

There is a herd of Charolais in a field I drive through to buy bread. I finally got around to taking pics. Unfortunately, I got a wall of rear ends. Apparently, cows have a very distinct hierarchy and naturally tend to look the same way. There are "friendships' as certain cows always graze together.

A friend filmed this today. This Canadair scoops up 6000 litres of water from the Seine to dump on the fire. It is incredibly dangerous work as they fly with no margin for error. The pilots are absolute heroes.
