If someone wants to build an application that builds Web Audio API graphs and stores them in a PDS, I have published a spec for this which describes the way atmosynth.at does it with the at.atmosynth.patch records: tangled.org/center.for.c... #music #webaudio #atproto #synths

atmosynth.at now shows a lineage tree when forking or importing other people's patches, modules or samples. Nothing here is cryptographically proven, as people could also just copy & paste open data, but it is a nice built-in way to pay tribute.

Screenshot of atmosynth showing the lineage tree of a patch: A patch by user A is forked from another user's patch, and both patches use Atmosynth built-in modules.

at.atmosynth.patch PDS records can now be played with a VST plugin in DAWs like Ableton Live. atmosynth.at #atproto #abletonlive #daw #synths

Screenshot of Ableton Live with Atmosynth VST3 plugin opened. Live is playing some notes from a MIDI track. In the plugin, a patch called "FM Piano" is loaded and the user can edit several settings like detune, attack, sustain, release, output level.

This looks amazing. I'll keep repeating it over and over: ATproto is not about rebuilding social media. It's about rebuilding the Internet with social connections built in.

I have added sequencer modules to Atmosynth. Now you can create not just synth patches, but entire grooves. I recommend watching with headphones or good speakers. atmosynth.at #music #synth #atproto

I have created Atmosynth, an #ATproto #synth patch platform. You can create, fork, and edit synth patches and play them directly in the browser, via computer keyboard or MIDI keyboard. Patches are saved in your ATproto PDS. #music #atproto

I'm using a cheap 23" TV as a monitor. Works nicely, but it has one peculiar quirk: the pixels are backwards! Most monitors follow an RGB pattern, but this one is BGR. Under #KDE, you can compensate for this by going to System Settings > Text & Fonts > Fonts and setting sub-pixel rendering to BGR.

Close shot of an LCD monitor, zoomed in so that the individual sub-pixels are visible. They are arranged in a blue-green-red pattern.

Made the mistake of installing Google Chrome on Fedora via Flathub. Disk IO (via File System Access API) was super slow compared to the default RPM package. #Fedora #Flathub #Flatpak #Chrome

Finally ditched Microsoft Windows completely after using it for ~3 decades. I now have alternatives for all remaining use cases I still needed it for (audio production with Samplitude, CD extraction with Exact Audio Copy, tax declaration). All those ads and Recall just have gotten too much […]
