Heartbroken to share the passing of @eminism.org , an incredible writer and activist for decades across every injustice. We were very lucky to have her at SZF the past two years, and hope many of you got the chance to interact with emi and read her work. The world is less bright without her.

A photo of emi koyama, seated, holding her two small dogs. The caption reads: "Heartbroken to hear of the passing of emi koyama, who we had the incredible honor of having at Seattle Zine Fest the last two years.

emi was a prolific writer and activist, whose zines, talks, letters, and tireless advocacy on the rights of sex workers, disabled folks, transgender and intersex people, and more touched the lives of many, and contributed to the advancement of so many causes."

Collage of several of emi's zines and fliers. The caption reads: "emi's work touched me for the first time in 2019, and has since continued to help me envision justice in a world so fraught with inequality. I felt unfathomably lucky to live in the same city as her, to get to see her at city hall speaking out against every new unjust city council proposal, and to have her light at zine fest the last 2 years. So many folks shared with me how she and her work affected them, helped them through hard times, helped them understand themselves, helped them see a better future."

Illustration by emi of Bubble the jellyfish, used as an icon on the web. Caption reads: "You can read much of emi's work online at her website, https://eminism.org/readings/index.html .

The sex worker support organization in south King County she co-founded, Aileen's, has a GoFundMe going to continue and expand their operations. I am sure that a donation to Aileen's will help continue emi's work and legacy. https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-aileens-and-emi

emi fought hard her whole life against injustice. Her life and work inspired many, and I hope it inspires you. We must all keep up the fight. "

We always love to vouch for a print batch at the library printers, but for bigger print jobs I know a lot of folks like G&H Print in Eastlake! maps.app.goo.gl/y2AuJfhbCP8o...
