Here in Seattle, candidates routinely win when Amazon overplays their hand. In 2019 AMZ dumped $1.5M into city council elections, doubling their PAC $$ from 2015. Progressives screamed about it, fomented a backlash & AMZ ended up losing 5 out of 7 races. & Musk is 1000x more hated than AMZ

There's multiple good threads going around today about how to speak up when you see something wrong. I'd like to recommend "gentle parenting other adults". Examples: "no thank you, we use kind words, please" or "listening ears on! Our friend said 'no'" Condescending? Yes, and that's the point.

A classmate of mine did their undergrad at Cornell, and told me her sorority's charter was taken away for a "hazing incident" where they woke everyone up early and took them out for breakfast in their pajamas. The difference in the way this frat was treated is striking.

Got in an argument with co-workers on a hiring committee, because the candidate asked why the job was 37.5 hours instead of 40. Co-workers thought it meant the candidate would do the bare minimum? I thought it was a perfectly reasonable question because the hours were weird!! We didn't hire her 😑

If you're wondering why so many comics people are po'd about the Publishers Weekly PR stunt for an "AI" "graphic novel publisher" is because the whole piece is an insult to the hard work people do to make comics. No element can just be outsourced to a machine and then traced and not look like crap.
