I remain @ginbat on Insta, though use it more as a photo diary. Rights of Rivers? In the UK, a highly Anthropocentric construction (where are the "boundaries", eh), void of imagination, advocated by lawyers. But hey progress. #EthicsOfCare #Ecofeminism #Ignored

The "Foreign Office" wants to ask Israeli representatives questions about the torturous treatment of illegally arrested citizens on the high seas. Where is Kier Starmer PM?
A screenshot of Channel 4 News Insta report on the Foreign Office requesting a meeting with Israeli State representatives, with a still image of Itamer Ben-Gvir holding an Israeli flag at a detention centre for flotilla activists. My comment below asking why Kier Starmer, once specialist in international humanitarian law, is not himself enforcing those laws.

RE Norway and the disbanding of Ethics oversight to protect Big Tech: www.ft.com/content/f6b3... I posted to my LinkedIn connections and followers, nearly all academics involved in planetary sustainability, one way or another.
My commentary on an FT article about Stolenberg's decision to disband the Ethics Committee that oversees Norwegian state "oil fund" investments.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch... #BeingHuman My first, and probably only, comment on YouTube. Whistling into the vast, empty winds of #SocialMedia
A long comment describing cooperation as the major factor in human evolutionary success, and criticising the use of De Courbertain's modern Olympics as an icon of human "nature" being biologically competitive to the extreme.

Meanwhile... #HeatWave #RiverTeme
Pebble river bed, no water flows at least at the surface. Sheep in the distance. An algae-filled pond is all that remains of a deep river pool. Dry pebbles, and sheep. Ancient pebble terraces are exposed in a cliff (usually submerged) under a parched turf riverbank. The river is completely dry here. Algae on pebbles have blanched in the sun.

Meanwhile...
In daylight. A beautiful red poppy plant flowers between a rusty barrier and the metalled pavement. At night. The bright red lights of the ornate Hotel De Ville, Cannes. At night. A trendy red moped is parked on a pavement with palm trees and the bright red lights of the Hotel de Ville, Cannes, in the background, with flares of red brake lights on the road in between. A water feature in central Cannes at night. *bubbles* of red water are lines of small fountains aling the pavia, lit up with red lights.

Yet farmers near me are not adapting because the markets aren't adapting because consumers are not encouraged to adapt because mainstream politics is either eco-illiterate or in utter denial or both. #arable #farming #soils #drought #evaporation #StormRunOff #rivers #ecology #climate
Modern industrially farmed field "margin", exposed, soils, deep cracks, oilseed rape in bloom to the right. Harsh sunlight down the slope towards the camera.

The Symialarity is "similar" to the state of the biosphere before Western human value and hierarchical systems were widely imposed at scale, but retaining "fluministic" or sensitive technologies that aid wellbeing for all, preventing the Sixth Extinction from continuing.

A futuresketch produced digitally by me, showing colour coded ethical routes forward from the Anthropocene (bottom) to The Symialarity (top). It shows the drastic "thinning" of teresapien life (more than human), an impoverishment, but Indigenous continuity despite all odds. Little trails of Fluminists begin splitting off from wayward routes and crossing the transilience gap, coupling up with more escaping from black death zones created by Capitalism Market Driven ethics AI and manned space travel (red is for danger; these routes pitter out into the cosmos). Eventually, abundance and equity returns. It has been described as "looking like a heart attack".

Hello worm holes (about 1m below the usual surface of the field). Soil/subsoil is only between 1-2 ms deep before significant glacial till/old river pebbles and bed rock beneath. Local bore holes have roughly described depths. Notice how deep the plough furrows go.

A new river "braid" cut about 50cm-1m deep across a ploughed field. Heron foot prints in a row across the mud.

Sold at the Lion Ballroom Christmas Fair! Boxing Hares, Bartonsham Meadows, 2022. A3 print, by me. Joy to illustrate my forays in old dairy fields left fallow along the #RiverWye between Hereford Cathedral & the town sewage works (!), that have since become protected "rhos" meadows! #nature
An illustrative artwork is displayed on a tripod stand. Two boxing Hares upstanding in a water meadow full of wildflowers, with 4 tall lombardy poplars in the distance under a sunset sky.

The good news is that the pair of swans on the developing oxbow are content. All their young, bar the one that sadly perished late summer, have flown. #rivers #rivering #RiverLove
Eerie light above a developing oxbow lake, misty turquoise water, but a pair of white swans, facing one another, glow in the moonlight in front of a dark wall of autumnal trees in shadow.
