Ineligible votes are exceedingly rare, yet treated as a grave threat to our elections. But when far more ballots from eligible voters get rejected over technicalities, nobody bats an eye. And the imbalance works to Trump's advantage: demdock.com/4zfOYLe

This is why I get pissed off when anyone accuses me of being an elitist when I say young people should go to college if they can. I say that because my dad was a local lineman and contractor who did heavy physical labor for years and has had chronic back pain since his early 30s

Somehow not everyone is aware of fact alluded to below. So one more time: John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett were all on GWBush 2000 'Florida Recount' team. (Which made GWB first prez in 112 yrs to 'win' after losing popular vote. Now they 'impartially' rule on our future.)

CEO compensation has increased 1,316% since 1978. And worker compensation? Just 28%. The system is rigged. We need to start taxing the rich so they pay their fair share.

How can you enforce any legislative reforms? Suppose a judge just doesn't comply. The Constitution clearly states the only way to remove a judge is through the impossibly high bar of impeachment. Expanding the court is the ONLY solution

America today is a country where regulators won't allow private companies to air interviews of the opposition on TV, but declare that taxpayer funded propaganda is fine.

No one believes the current crop of corrupt court members would ever submit to any reforms, so step 1 MUST be to expand the court

This is one of the most maddening thigns about this court: Not just the substantive rulings, but how they think about “irreperable harm.” If the Most Special Boy has to wait a month to do a thing he REALLY wants to, that’s irreperable harm. Actual large-scale human suffering? Meh.

Incredible. First Secretary Mullin claimed that DHS had identified 15,903 noncitizens on Nevada’s voter roll. Then DHS officials told a skeptical Nevada, no no no, that’s just people we flagged. Here are the names of 185 people we KNOW aren’t citizens. All 185 were citizens. DHS got 100% wrong.
When the Department of Homeland Security sent Nevada a list of 185 names last month that it claimed identified noncitizens who had been improperly allowed to register to vote, state election officials got to work.
On Tuesday, the state sent a strongly worded rebuke to the federal government: Every single person on the list was a lawful citizen.
"As for the 185 individuals, our records indicate that they were citizens," Greg D. Ott, a deputy attorney general in Nevada, wrote, according to a copy of a letter sent to Department of Homeland Security officials obtained through open records requests.
"You have provided nothing of substance to suggest otherwise."Following the meeting, Ms. Vogt sent a clarifying email to Nevada officials. "I also wanted to be sure I clarified that we did not reduce the 15,903 to 185," she wrote. "We've manually reviewed some of the 15,903 and confirmed 185 are not U.S. Citizens."
Now, Nevada officials are saying even that 185 number is wrong. They also took issue with a letter D.H.S. sent them in early September, in which the agency reiterated its initial claims about nearly 16,000 noncitizens on the rolls and pressured state officials to review each case in a letter to Nevada officials in early September.

"Rule-based" means there are a large set of prescriptive rules that define exactly how to behave in predefined situations and the system is completely deterministic and can't do anything beyond exactly what is specified in the rules

The instructions I just referred to exist on the back-end and can be as simple as "Don't say anything negative about Donald Trump or Elon Musk"

So when he's not convicted, he can say he was "vindicated". What does that accomplish?

LLMs take input text and generate output text. Guardrails (or manipulation) are added by prepending additional instructions (in English) prior to every message it receives

I get it, I wasn't using AI the same way a year ago either. And maybe it wasn't that capable a year ago. But it is now. I've seen it with my own eyes. It is indistinguishable from human reasoning.
010
Sean Rohead @seanrohead.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
I've literally watched it develop hypotheses, gather data to evaluate the hypotheses, and confirm or reject the hypotheses based on the data it collected. That is thinking, full stop.
2110
Sean Rohead @seanrohead.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Then you haven't used AI like I have or understood my previous posts, because this is EXACTLY what AI is doing today

Sean Rohead @seanrohead.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Uh, how about the dictionary definition: "the power of comprehending, inferring, or thinking especially in orderly rational ways"
180
Sean Rohead @seanrohead.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
But now you're arbitrarily defining *reasoning* to be something only humans can do and NOT what everyone has understood reasoning to be for 1000's of years. Which is Will's whole point!
2140
Sean Rohead @seanrohead.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
I can give it a very vague instruction like "find bugs and performance optimizations in my code" and it will give me 10-15 *specific* and accurate recommendations. How do you do that without some form of reasoning?
190
Sean Rohead @seanrohead.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
But to Will's point: I can give it a very brief description of what's wrong and it will analyze logs and the code and figure out what the code is supposed to do and why it's misbehaving and how to fix it. If that's not *thinking* and *reasoning*, then I don't know what the hell is.

Sean Rohead @seanrohead.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
2 years ago it was a joke. A year ago it could write code badly. Now, it's 10 times faster and 100 times more knowledgeable than I am. Finding and fixing bugs in a complex codebase used to take hours or days, and sometimes weeks. AI can now do it in minutes.

I've been a software engineer for 30 years. It used to be a highly skilled profession, but has now been 95% replaced by AI. I don't think the vast majority of people grasp yet just how capable AI has become and how rapidly it is developing.

NEW: A Florida county's mail ballot envelope was rejected by USPS over spacing that fell just 0.014 inches short of the required quarter inch. The situation inadvertently offered a test case for just how disruptive Trump’s efforts to restrict mail voting could be this November.
