Even with this reduction, everyone that isn't a haulier will still be paying more than the EU minimum excise on diesel. They have only gone beyond the limits of the rules for people who have access to the diesel rebate scheme.

Media has decided that public spending is too high. Reality is there has been no increase in public spending as a share of the real economy in 10 years. So even when you strip out multinationals, there has been no increase And we spend the lowest amount in western Europe as a share of our economy
