@anamca.bsky.social Heat pump ran in both heating and AC mode a few hours today although with the temps like they were I did have to swap back and forth a couple times. While I was testing the plinth heaters I had the Heat Pump in cooling mode (wasteful but necessary to test a bit more fully). 🥵 🥶

(On this entire carriage there’re 2 backpacks overhead. Zero to 1 bags w/ wheels in the luggage bays, with people holding roller bags in a seat next to them. Maybe I’m nuts but this feels like a failure of proper queueing protocol 🤪)

On my train to market harborough. Same as on prior trips on EMR tho, the luggage racks on each end of the carriages are jammed with tiny bags & backpacks which could clearly be overhead where large roller can’t go safely. Seems silly & inefficient.

And on the Elizabeth line. Next change farringdon if my math is right. Costs more than Piccadilly line but no steps & an easy lift xfer to thameslink for 1 stop to st pancras. With luggage, seemed better. Eline cars always seem to be bigger cars w/ better spots to stand w/ luggage.

Next weekend into *the next week. ie, we’ll prolly test stuff Mon-Tue (maybe Wed), I’ll piddle up to Braunston Thu-Fri, then wander between there & Barby Moorings a bit, then back thru Braunston & up Calcutt Locks no later than 22nd, & Ventnor by the 24th to head to London to fly out on the 25th. ✈️

Bow design is to make emergency egress safer than most enclosed bows (if I’m fleeing a burning boat in my PJs I do NOT want to end up falling in the canal as well) plus still gives a safe spot to sit on a folding chair when working thru larger river locks w/ the bow line on a riser or just to read 🤓

HS2-related road closures next week meant rescheduling, but still at Napton Junction. We’ll test in between the winding holes a miles & a half either side, then I’ll prolly go to Braunston & Barby moorings next weekend into next week before going up the Calcutt locks to Ventnor for the winter.

Couple days testing at Napton then cruise to Braunston London Rd visitor moorings (walk into town & up the locks & see Clare@TBS, Heather@Serendipidy, Ant & Hannah@their wagon at the marina) & spend a night+; up to Barby moorings a night & test power/pumpout; then back to Braunston then Ventnor. 😃

Just me. Plus the plan already changed! HS2 road closures mean boat launches tomorrow & not where planned. Land at LHR the 11th AM, train to Market Harborough, Uber to NKW, sleep on Sloe, pack up in the AM, then UberX (so I can fit more or all the stuff) to Napton Junction & jam it on the boat. 😬
