it was some of the Booker books in August - didn’t really get on with ‘Helen’ - style over substance? black bag was good. always wary of novels billed as “hilarious”, but it had a nice light-ish tone, some nuanced meditations on masculinity I liked. not crazy on how to be both or cathedrals #booksky

i got thru the Booker longlist, (bar the 2 to come next month!). the vivisectors has become my new #1 of the bunch. an incredible book, a startling and luxurious read. it gave my brain a massage and scratch in a really nice way. totally unique and imo on a different level to the rest of the list

pride month reading - foundry editions continue to impress (Paradiso), Douglas Stuart’s 3rd book is a triumph, floodlines is a smart, well written book & ‘dogs’ is a heartwarming, cute read. the silver book just did not land, nor did heap earth upon it. our wives was a surprise smash! #booksky

May was good for no of books read but the quality was…mixed. sad to say the womens prize shortlist was a total bust, besides the piercing & compelling Kingfisher. the director was vv good! transcription is superb, a taut, assured & thought provoking novel. s/o to the excellent fire exit too #booksky

april! v impressed by the two observer debut novels - lucy don’t speak + a private man. shame Apps’ compelling, moving novel missed the women’s prize shortlist. the witch…what was that? also an int’ booker nominee, Taiwan Travelogue, what a tale with an incredible journey to being finally published
