onto to the last of the Booker books today, Switzy. i was convinced I’d have them read by the shortlist announcement (tomo), but it’s not quite to be. great list in all, top 3: all them dogs, may we feed the king, the vivisectors. outstanding fiction! #booksky #bookerprize2026 #booker #bookerprize

i keep seeing before and after vids of guys who’ve had subtle filler. every single time they look better before imo. it does give a more sculpted look, but it’s plastic-y and looks hard. we’re guna look back at this era of big square jaws in a few years now like we look back at BBL’s

it was some of the Booker books in August - didn’t really get on with ‘Helen’ - style over substance? black bag was good. always wary of novels billed as “hilarious”, but it had a nice light-ish tone, some nuanced meditations on masculinity I liked. not crazy on how to be both or cathedrals #booksky

been trying some new underwear brands lately. today I tried these sloggi ‘mini’ white briefs. really cute and comfortable! they’re not crazy small, just regular briefs I guess. idk white pants are a vibe to me these days

i got thru the Booker longlist, (bar the 2 to come next month!). the vivisectors has become my new #1 of the bunch. an incredible book, a startling and luxurious read. it gave my brain a massage and scratch in a really nice way. totally unique and imo on a different level to the rest of the list

this labour gov 2.0 hasn’t been really inspiring either

021

sean @seanl44.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

also been feeling a lot of climate doom. the country has literally been on fire and the gov couldn’t give two hoots. we’re heading for disaster, I fear something rly big/tragic needs to happen for our leaders to take the changing climate seriously

life has been lifing lately. kinda looking forward to a new season/month to have a bit of a reset. always feeling a new year sensation in September these days. needless to say, beyond fed up of the hot, long af summer

aaayee forgot about this. in July I finished the observer best debut list - really good novels overall, though FF was shockingly bad…a confusing and poor choice among other great books. i really liked i want you to be happy as a modern romance drama. pick of the month was Mr Outside, superb #booksky

pride month reading - foundry editions continue to impress (Paradiso), Douglas Stuart’s 3rd book is a triumph, floodlines is a smart, well written book & ‘dogs’ is a heartwarming, cute read. the silver book just did not land, nor did heap earth upon it. our wives was a surprise smash! #booksky

May was good for no of books read but the quality was…mixed. sad to say the womens prize shortlist was a total bust, besides the piercing & compelling Kingfisher. the director was vv good! transcription is superb, a taut, assured & thought provoking novel. s/o to the excellent fire exit too #booksky

april! v impressed by the two observer debut novels - lucy don’t speak + a private man. shame Apps’ compelling, moving novel missed the women’s prize shortlist. the witch…what was that? also an int’ booker nominee, Taiwan Travelogue, what a tale with an incredible journey to being finally published

one of the reasons I’m opening the news less lately is bc the moment far*ge makes a statement or throws a press conference over absolutely nothing, the guardian (and others) breathlessly report this -news-, urgently, in flashing live coverage or headlines placed at the top of the app. enough

good reading month. may we feed the king was perfection; all them dogs was electric; the palm house was superb and happiness & love was a hoot. as if was a nice read, couldn’t help but compare its meta/dual narrative style to last years audition (but better!). rabbitbox was quite touching #booksky

february in books! three south Asian novels, which was a nice/accidental theme. ‘serpent’ was a fantastic, rich read; ‘A Burning’ was a super enjoyable polyphonic tale, with a delightful trans voice; ‘the roof’ also had surprise queer themes. adored trespasses - I just love Irish fiction 💚#booksky
