It's pretty cool reading about how Apple just invented foldable phones from my seventh-generation foldable phone.

I'm very busy so instead of making me read your 8-page strategy document, can you just send me the three bullet points that you fed to ChatGPT to write it?

Is there a part of the internet that has not been taken over by AI slop and artificial discourse yet? Feels like even Reddit joined the dead internet in the past couple months. FB, X, and LI were dead long ago but have gotten even worse...

Plans are essential, but planning is worthless. Leaders need a button they can press that automatically creates a plan for any situation without the unnecessary toil of learning or understanding. Introducing EisenhowerAI. Coming soon to your organization whether you want it or not.

Hot take: "bias towards action" is really just "bias against accuracy" with better marketing.

Compulsory RTO is great because after working with people for years and building professional relationships based on mutual respect now you get to constantly be aware of their mucus situation and know what their farts smell like.

I'm a generally a very firm supporter of the First Amendment, but I do think that the government should be able to restrict a person's ability to use [Action Required] in the subject line of work email they send.

You can tell that American libertarianism is a totally serious ideology cuz now that there actually *are* government boots on the ground killing citizens the libertarians are out there fighting against authoritarianism just like the liberals are. Oh wait, they're not? Weird...

I'll write a book called "The AI Leader" and in it, I'll just talk about leading people with empathy. "Trick" people into reading the thing that they actually need to learn.

Two things that are almost certainly happening in your organization today in the name of operational efficiency are: 1. An increase in system complexity. 2. The shedding of expertise and acquired knowledge of how the system works. What might be a highly predictable outcome of this?

It's sort of like how in medicine we understand the improper application of antibiotics has an inverse effect and ends up creating antibiotic-resistant "super bugs". Improper application of "reliability" work ends up creating lack of resilient behaviors in the org and creates "super failures".

Yup! I think the trick there would be to approach your Reliability improvements with an eye towards increasing resilient behaviors. You worked on the code and now have a better understanding of its intent. Do others? How is this knowledge shared?
010
Sean Klein @seanklein.bsky.social · 26/06/2025
3 inconvenient truths: - Reliability is not the same as Resiliency. - Improvements to your Reliability do not improve your Resiliency. - Improvements to your Reliability very often *decrease* Resiliency.
