One thing that is really driven home to me working at a HW company now is how much modern HW is actually distributed systems-shaped (inside the same chassis!), with many of the same problems. In case you wondered why firmware security is such a big deal nowadays, that’s one reason why.

Listened to a podcast from @99pi.org about the 60-degree screw and how USA supplied material to the Allies in WW2 and so they adopted some US standards. Thereafter ISO became a thing and USA decided to mostly ignore the adopted standards. 🙄

It’s been really hard to articulate what I dislike about LLM writing, so thank you for pinpointing it so eloquently. I’ve even tried to seed their style with samples and principles of my own writing to make it sound like me, but the weights win and it reads at best like someone impersonating me.
