Whatever the British had that made them refuse to learn to dogsled or ski to reach the South Pole first (instead trying ponies & on foot), & then being gobsmacked when Norwegian Roald Amundsen made it there first (on skis, with dogsleds). Always makes me chuckle. 😂 So... Colonialism? Ignorance?
