John Rhys-Davies infinitely makes this movie better than it should be 😂

Time to get my 31 Days of Halloween movie marathon list primed and ready to go! Been itching to watch some of my favorites but held off the last few months

010

Colin @sdkcolin.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

Certainly feels like the first day of fall. I wouldn't mind a little less rain and the fact that it'll be almost 80 again next week though 😅

Colin @sdkcolin.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

That's certainly an ending to all endings. Goodness...

Colin @sdkcolin.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Tonight's Read: 'Lost Hearts' by M.R. James, 1895 There's an excellent adaptation by Lawrence Gordon Clark as part of the BBC's 'Ghost Stories For Christmas' programming. This will be a repeat comment the more M.R. James I read, as they're excellent films

September is hard for horror movies because I'm in the mood to go all in on Halloween already, but also don't want to watch all my favorites yet until October. So many tough decisions to make

September 2026 Watch Thread Hopefully a tamer September for me this year than last. No time for a full 61 Days of Halloween this time. Still! Hoping to get some solid autumnal and fall vibes out of what I am able to watch #nowwatching #horrorsky 📽️

Tonight's Read: 'Canon Alberic's Scrap-book' by M.R. James, 1895 I've read this before, and the knowledge of something lurking out of sight but not out of reach is certainly spine-tingling even on a second go... As the sacristan says at the end: "Deux fois je l'ai vu; mille fois je l'ai senti."

010

Colin @sdkcolin.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

Trying to read more and I think I've settled on ghost stories right before going to bed. My collection of M.R. James stories will finally be cracked open 😅

Colin @sdkcolin.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

Feels so nice deciding not to do a 61 days of Halloween marathon this year. It surprisingly gets draining after watching 200+ horror films in two months

000

Colin @sdkcolin.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

I would buy a Stelvio Massi/Maurizio Merli poliziottesco box set so fast if one ever came out. Already tempted to grab the Umberto Lenzi/Thomas Milian 'Violent Streets' one from @severinfilms.bsky.social

I think it says a lot about my desensitization to horror, but I have, on multiple occasions now, somehow fallen asleep watching Cat III films. The amount of times I had to restart the last 15 minutes of this is kind of impressive 😅

000

Colin @sdkcolin.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

I was incredibly wrong and this very much leads into The Boxer's Omen 😂 An enjoyable movie, not nearly as wild as its sequel. The battle of the masters is far more impressive, after all

RIP to director Chuck Russell, who you probably know most as the director of the Mask, but whose masterpiece film that you should absolutely go back and watch is his 1988 remake of The Blob. Seriously, it's a near perfect movie.

🙌 Something to look forward to right after Halloween. Too bad it might be too early for the fall sale Criterion usually has around that time Beautiful cover art for an equally beautiful film

We're halfway through the year! My goal at the start was to see at least 40 films in theaters this year and I'm currently sitting at 25/40 Highlights: Obsession and Backrooms kicked ass and we're a week out from a new Evil Dead/The Odyssey. Lots of good movies left to see! boxd.it/RI6fi

Love how everyone's rankings of Robert Eggers' filmography is always different. That should be indicative of how quality his work is

Happy 99th birthday to the Godfather of Gore, Lucio Fulci himself! It's hard to explain how transformative watching his films has been for me, so here's my collection to show for it. Definitely a few gaps still, like his westerns, but I'm getting closer! #horrorsky #filmsky #physicalmedia

The movie watching experience for me is seeing several solid, sometimes acclaimed films, and then immediately going on a binge of trashy, sleazy horror. And I wouldn't have it any other way

Colin @sdkcolin.bsky.social · 09/06/2026

Might have to check out Curry Barker's horror shorts before I see Obsession tomorrow 👀

My Insta feed is full of sea lion vids now, and all I can think about is how they remind me of a scuzzy, alcoholic uncle that laughs at his own dry jokes. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop watching them though 😂

I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but I enjoyed Ghost Ship more. I think starting the the infamous wire scene is enough to beat Nazi ghost ship

My literal childhood right here. First N64 game which came bundled with the console. As important as the Zelda games were for me, DK64 helped with my reading and problem solving at a young age and kickstarted my love for games. Can't even begin to explain how important that yellow cartridge is to me

I've been slowly reading Death Note for the first time over the last two weeks. It's so good. I had read Bakuman from the same creators years ago but Death Note always had this stigma to it for some reason...and also because a kid in my school had a notebook with people's names in it at one point 😅

Coming back to this: Arrietty is superb in IMAX. The scale of the film + the sound design really makes the Borrowers' world that much more alive and vibrant. Definitely have a new appreciation for this one, and I fear seeing it this way has ruined it for me - in a good way - with future watches
