My after-lunch listening today. Let me just say, @scwkorsgaard.bsky.social is a fantastic storyteller in the verbal medium. Grabs ya by the ears and doesn't let go. Time to go pre-order Battleborn. youtu.be/Gml_QZUCrK8?...

I went as part of a group with Eva Kor, a family friend and Mengele Twin. It's still a chilling, horrifying place.

Did the Oscars finally apologize for snubbing Sylvester Stallone for CREED? If not, I'm still not watching. Not gonna complain if a bunch of the rest of the guys who made CREED come away with some new hardware though.

DC has great fusion food. And food period. Just got Indian/Mexican butter chicken tacos with a group of writers at Awesomecon.

My favorite part is he was the ONLY one of the Weird Tales circle that didn't know she was a woman. Which means everyone else thought it was funnier not to correct him.

It's been one year since the funeral for Howard Andrew Jones. What a grievous loss it still is... you will never be forgotten my friend.

Not my place to share publicly. There will be a Hanuvar short story in the first issue of Battleborn. All I can say for now.

A year without Howard Andrew Jones by Scott Oden. A somber remembrance about one of the best sword & sorcery authors who gave us many tales and one whose generosity was felt by many writers & the book community

I can't believe Howard Andrew Jones has been gone a year now. I still weep for the loss.

Clark Ashton Smith was born on this day 133 years ago. Beloved for his Zothique stories and Hyperborean cycle, Smith wedded the styles of fellow WEIRD TALES alumni Howard and Lovecraft into something completely his own. This #Thewsday, lets share our favorite story by Clarke Ashton Smith!

It's always nice to see the sword-and-sorcery community come together and enjoy the new season of Primal.

Honestly? There is so much baffling behind the scenes stuff with reprints and subrights that makes the head spin.

010

Sean CW Korsgaard @scwkorsgaard.bsky.social · 27/12/2025

I did my part when working there - I could (and hope to!) work in SFF publishing another 50 years - to bring in Howard Andrew Jones and his Hanuvar series. Had he not died of cancer...

Sean CW Korsgaard @scwkorsgaard.bsky.social · 27/12/2025

The sad thing is, what's keeping reprints from happening is a moviedeal. Apparently so long as they renew the movie rights, no reprints. Good for his estate, but man I'd love to replace those aging Bolo paperbacks.

If we are being honest, its a world building issue... the franchise itself waffled heavily on just what the Immortals are, their powers, origins, all that stuff. Its one reason I'm hoping the reboot is great - a clean slate here is overdue.

Reading the Amber books by Roger Zelazny for the first time in at least a decade. Gods these are good. As in most things, Howard Andrew Jones was right.

When I got hired at Baen, they shared the horror story of everything that went wrong with 1945. Saw a picture of Jim Baen testifying before Congress because it got wrapped in Gingrich's scandals. "If nothing you do here ends with us on CSPAN, I promise you've done better than some editors here."

Getting over a nasty case of something miserable and painful. Good time to remind people @BattlebornMag is open to submissions until Midnight on Veterans Day, November 11. Some good heroic fantasy to boost my spirits would be appreciated.

They're West Virginians, and if memory serves, one of the Grantville residents is big on Confederate stuff, a which catches on with a few of the other uptimers.

The NPR List of the Top 100 from 2011 I think is actually damned solid. I would ditch MZB for obvious reasons, but otherwise? I've used it as a checklist to work down for years and haven't had a bad read yet.
