I can only watch Brotherhood now because of how off the rails the 2003 anime went. lol. Though I do miss those side stories, like the mining town, being cut from the remake.

You can donate to places pushing back like Immigrant Law Center of MN, National Lawyers Guild MN, ACLU etc. Yes, do vote. But talk to your friends/neighbors/family and make sure they know this is happening and that they need to vote against it. I know it can be uncomfortable but it’s worth it.

Those are days when I hug my kiddo extra. It really sucks sometimes, the litany of horrors seems endless. idk if we can fix it, but I won’t/can’t stop trying to do my part. FWIW I appreciate your bike and non-bike posts. I’ve been inspired by you and others to get an e-bike.

I hate it. Any search related to gardening, crafting, cooking (lovely human activities that greatly benefit from humans sharing advice) is just slop websites now. We used to be able to find websites that a person put thought into.

Sorry they said that, that person was being a dolt. With newborns/infants take any win you can get. It’s so hard and “simple” things like getting them to eat or sleep are victories.

You will fall some but it won’t really hurt, if you’re wearing layers and going slow enough for the conditions. Also, don’t worry about being hardcore from go. Any increase in biking is good. If you only go out a few times on safe trails your first year that’s great! Just keep going and learning

And yes, Flock says the processing is done locally and not kept, and they only upload the plate, etc. Is there a technical reason why the ALPR couldn’t be reprogrammed to become a regular camera? Uploading or live-streaming images without isolating just the plates.

000

Scrubbles @scrubbles-lc.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Exactly! I feel dumb for not having realized this sooner but for anyone like me: ALPRs are just cameras. They take pictures and videos. Then they process the images to find license plates. They are not a barcode scanner that somehow only scans license plates without seeing everything else.

i am incredibly excited to share our research about how paying people’s rent through mutual aid made an impact on minnesota this year we accidentally collected more data than anyone ever has for an effort like this, and can very seriously say we prevented an eviction bubble that everyone expected

Or literally print it like MapQuest. Some people used a laminated road map and drew the route ahead of time. Very easy to just erase it. It’s hard to know exactly what/who is being tracked. The gov has a lot of surveillance. Just do your best and keep showing up for your neighbors.

I’m guessing it’s one of those pics where it looks like something absurd so you click on it thinking “surely they can’t be saying you should make plastic bag underwear”. Then you read all the way to the end to find out about the underwear before you realize it was just a lure for your attention.

Tired of shitting yourself because the GOP's trying to steal votes? Here's info from a veteran. I live in the US capitol of ballot fraud! The good ol' NC-09. I've personally been hit by two (2) NATIONAL NEWS-level GOP attempts to steal elections. BOTH 👏 FAILED 👏 because we WORKED. Here's how.

Unless they specify, when I see people complain about careers being ruined by me too, I just assume they’re talking about Harvey Weinstein or that news goblin losing their jobs. I don’t recall other high profile people who actually stayed “cancelled” for things they did?

Scrubbles @scrubbles-lc.bsky.social · 06/08/2026

For me the problem is people are dying or being injured by cars right now. Speed cameras are faster/easier to add than to redo roads (which I also want). I also don’t like more surveillance. It would be an easier yes if we didn’t already live in an authoritarian state.

My recall is that closing schools was not done lightly and was primarily done to prevent kids from infecting adults, specifically the elderly. We also re-opened as soon as vaccines came out to front line and vulnerable people, arguably earlier than we should have for how long the rollout took.

000

Scrubbles @scrubbles-lc.bsky.social · 31/07/2026

But congressional staffers are not necessarily those with the least power. Some of these positions are highly sought after as a way for people with political ambitions to climb the ladder. This is different than yelling at a comcast phone support person.

I won’t pretend I know Bayesian statistics but neither should they. From what I’ve read it only works for things that have happened / have a probability? Like you can’t use bayes on things that haven’t happened or have only happened once?

Flock is a national scourge; I’m not mad at you Indiana 😉. If it makes you feel better (worse?) a county sheriff office *in* MN used their access to directly help ICE in the cities during OMS. But yea, try to get rid of flock wherever you live.

000

Scrubbles @scrubbles-lc.bsky.social · 20/07/2026

Not as far as I’ve seen, no. Also, I just saw an article that DOJ won’t do anything and FBI has been directed to let ICE handle their own investigations into misconduct… so somehow even less accountability?

110

Scrubbles @scrubbles-lc.bsky.social · 20/07/2026

To be clear this was Hennepin County charging the guy. It is good and they should be charged at the state/county level for the crimes they did. But, it is not Homan or the Feds holding themselves accountable.

220

Scrubbles @scrubbles-lc.bsky.social · 20/07/2026

I think he said “if ICE agents acted inappropriately they would be held accountable, just like they were held accountable in Minnesota”? But yea, he’s hard to understand. I was being facetious, point is I think we agree there hasn’t been accountability for them.

010

Scrubbles @scrubbles-lc.bsky.social · 20/07/2026

He said IF they acted inappropriately, they would be held accountable. So he must think everything they did was fine. The murders, releasing people with no coats into freezing temps, using kids as bait, gassing neighborhoods; all fine by him.

Scrubbles @scrubbles-lc.bsky.social · 20/07/2026

The amount of surveillance is incredible and terrible. If you needed more reason to tell your city to ditch flock, read this article. “Law enforcement around the country searched [Fridley’s] data more than 390,000 times [in January].” Police in Indiana just lets the FBI just use their account.

Wow… he invents a hypothetical where it *is* safer to get a robotaxi, leaves out biking and transit as alternatives, and still concludes he would prefer to live in a world where *other* people need to accept the risks of RTOR. Well I don’t want a “world of medium risk” for myself and kid! What a d

Like who gives a shit if it takes a week or two to count votes. A lot of our voting system was designed around it being slow. I don’t think we need to instantly know results for a primary which is months before the general election, which is months before when the winner would take office.
