I put this on the other place and most were nice (apart from some random who should have listened to Thumper’s mum) This was my just turned 15 yo’s art homework. Am so proud and also so pleased she gets to do her one GCSE option in something she loves.

PSA: don’t try and check your socials while you make your lunch. Especially if you are easily distracted.

Happy Anniversary to the Enomo Walrus Ham™️. 9 years ago, fed up with always doing *everything* for Christmas singlehanded, I tasked the ex with ordering the ham. He smugly returned from butcher’s- piece of cake. Christmas Eve he turned up with this bad boy. 9kg, not 9lb. He did not find it funny. 😆
Enormous ham so big it only just fits in a tray the size of the oven A walrus which looks like the big piece of ham complete with wrinkles

5) Waitrose Brown Butter with Cognac. £4 Challenging M&S to a duel for top premium pie, Waitrose charges in. Homely they may look and not sure what the brown butter adds, but these pack a punch of cognac. Hidden depths, like the quiet bloke down the pub who is fiendishly good at the quiz machine.

4) M&S Sloe Gin Crumble Mince Pies. £4 At an eye-watering pound a pie, these boozy offerings from Lord Marks of Spencershire are not for the budget conscious. As a purist, am not sold on the Crimble crumble topping. As a lover of slightly medicinal grog, I am all for the rosy glow of the sloe.

Smashed up an old second hand chest of drawers, we found a small purse. It contained some Royal family stamps, a receipt for funeral expenses in 1988, a recipe for cystitis treatment and a series of anti-French unfunny jokes cut out of the Sun. The past is indeed another country, thank goodness.

After seeing on here the fabulous Golden Girls tree decoration set (see below) I was wondering who you might like to immortalise on your tree? The camper the better, please. I’m going with Nigella, Britney and Brian Blessed. The holy trinity.

3) Waitrose All Butter, £2.75 Full disclaimer: I’m a Waitrose devotee. These were the same price as M&S and the filling was on a par. The pastry though. A different league - like that girl/boy you fancied in the year above you at school, who let the door slam in your face on the way into assembly.

2) Lidl All Butter, £2.29 Quite like the snazzy star shaped pastry lids, although regret to inform that they are a bit crumbly and I ended up with the vertices on my woolly jumper. Dog was impressed though. Filling actually quite pleasant and could taste a bit of brandy flavour? Pastry bland.

Mince pie taste test 2024. Tasting as many pies as humanly possible so you don’t have to. The Lord’s work. 1) M&S classic, £2.75 Kiplingesque pastry ‘sheath’ wrapping its slightly greasy mitts around syrupy filling. Alcohol detected: A whiff of the barmaid’s apron Decent, good base level pie
