We’re a small business focused on supporting writers of sci-fi and fantasy! We’re all authors and when we were starting out years ago, there weren’t many resources or programs for genre writers. So, we created them, based on what we learned over decades and millions of words written.

I keep seeing writers looking for alternatives to Google Docs or Word. If you want a more writer-friendly software (eg, one that's NOT pushing generative AI, stealing your data, or supporting unethical bullshit), here are my top picks. #writingtips

being an indie bookseller in the helltimes has felt both very stable and very stabilizing, and part of me wishes everyone could be on my side of the counter for a little while, because I think it would help some of you be a little less cynical and doomy right now. so here is my VERY anecdotal data:

Rejection is part of being a creative. It stings. It might make you want to give up. But remember that some people will hate your work no matter what you do. And some people will also love it. 1/2 #writingcommunity #writers

Writers: getting stuck is part of the creative process. It’s a sign to slow down, think, maybe even rest. Forgive yourself for being stuck or writing little. Show yourself and your creativity compassion even when things are not going as well as you’d like. #writingcommunity #writer

#Writers go through phases. Sometimes, you’ll be pounding out thousands of words each day. Sometimes, you’ll need to slow down and refill your creative well. Sometimes, you’ll be in your planning phase or your silly comedy phase, or your tragedy phase. Embrace the phase you’re currently in.

Rest. #Creativity requires breaks, rest, time to do nothing but be. That’s sometimes impossible in our world that demands so much (particularly from creatives who have to make their art AND come up with viral videos AND run a newsletter AND often have a day job). #writingcommunity

Creativity is born when you give your mind space to wander. That’s why ideas come in the shower or on walks. You have permission to do nothing. Turn off the phone, stare into space, and let your muse start talking. #writingcommunity #writercommunity #writingtips #creativity

Writers, when you get a piece of feedback on your writing, ask yourself: Will following this advice extinguish my vision like smothering a fire? Or will it bring my vision to life like tossing more wood into the flames? Only follow feedback that understands & supports your story. #writingcommunity

Writers are alchemists. You take the snippet of convo you overheard on the subway, the heartbreak when your high school crush made fun of your hair, the really cool detail from an article you read… And turn it into a story about space wizards who explore the galaxy on dragons. #writingcommunity
