"He cooks, and he cleans, and he sweats in the late summer heat, trying to push back his feelings. To ignore the giant elephant in the room that is his past, their past.
Sometimes he walks back to the spot where the Arcane dropped them, wondering if it will take him back. He can see the valley from there, under the shade of a tree. The cottage, and the mountains—he still can’t get used to how beautiful they are. He can’t help but wonder if one day he will get to climb them, even if just a bit.
At night, Viktor lies awake with Jayce curled up at his side, his fingers forever touching a piece of him, and he wonders if he can have this."
