my wish for everyone is that the main story never lays eyes on your favourite characters. I hope they remain in a tucked away sidequest in a nice zone with flavour text. blessed be

Its bad. They just did not do the narrative work for any of the emotional beats they're trying to achieve, among other things. Midnight hasn't topped Shadowlands for me for most disappointing expac yet, but its getting there.

I'm gonna be straight up, I usually sigh in disappointment and move on at most when it comes to the way Warcraft's story goes (with Sylvanas' ... everything and dragon soul being two major exceptions), but I'm serious when I say this patch might be top three worst stories Blizz has ever told.

I keep seeing people throw out the term "Covid Correction" for the mass layoffs we continue to see in the games industry. We're beyond that. It's far beyond the mass hiring during Covid. It's mismanagement, poor trend chasing, cuts of departments to use AI (not as much but happening), etc.

I feel like when the community decides something like this is necessary, its probably time for some official action. The social contract exists for a reason. Good reason to enforce it instead of this solution. But I will take any solution at this point.

As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.

theverge.com

There is no ethical consumption of HBO’s Harry Potter series

You can’t without supporting Rowling’s transphobic bigotry.

When looking at the issue of anti-trans legislation, Parton said that "I try to get into the human element of it." Pointing out that she has people in her life who identify as queer and trans, the 77-year-old star said it was important to hear what they're saying.
"I know and love them all, and I do not judge. And I just see how broken-hearted they get over certain things and I know how real they are," she said. "I know how important this is to them. That's who they are. They cannot help that any more than I can help being Dolly Parton, you know, the way people know me. If there's something to be judged, that is God's business. But we are all God's children and how we are is who we are."

I hate that we can't seem to have a conversation about the warcraft storyline not being great without people on social media being insane, thereby ruining any real forum for dissent. Like. Death threats? Be so fucking for real. Its a video game.
