Just doesn't seem ready for primetime. I don't want my package manager to be experimental.

Would it be better if it came with a failing test instead?

The rust rewrite did not deliver on the point of a rust rewrite. If this keeps up, I'm going to start pushing for a pnpm@11 fork.

@pnpm.io needs to stay focused and prioritize on why we switched up pnpm in the first place. It managed node packages and it did it will.

I think 11 is worth. But I'm also staying off 12. Heard @bluwy.me talk about packing size regression.

This kind of app should be built on atproto

Scott Wu @scottwu.ca · 19/09/2026
It's worse in setups where you have to manage the stack yourself. I imagine it'll get better with LLMs or better tooling like jj.

So cool. Feels like it would fit right in @npmx.dev. Makes me wish it was written in svelte so it can incorporate these graphs.

And then you can go like `sv create . --add atproto editable` and have codebase ready to go! I need to more time to help make this happen!

1. Signup for an AT account 2. Find and deploy a static host. 3. Edit away. The stepa would be even simpler if the host uses AT or if you just host on github pages.

@michaelaufreiter.com feels like this is a perfect fit for editable.website.

If it is string only, I wouldn't event allow a children and only pass a value prop
000
Scott Wu @scottwu.ca · 11/09/2026
You can probably do both. The latter is better to guarantee consistent output.

sv works for non-kit apps too. Paraglide is open source and framework agnostic.

Scott Wu @scottwu.ca · 05/09/2026
Why reinvent the wheel when we have fully integrated tools like paraglide that supports SSR. It's even one of the official add-ons when you run `npx sv create`.

It should just work. If you run into any quirks. @joyofcode.xyz has a nice explainer on how to fix them.

I don't know about team setting, but bitwarden supports that. They're cross platform and work well for me personally

You mean like driverjs.com It should just work with svelte out of the box.

OnMount runs after render use if(browser) so it runs as soon as the js is loaded

Maybe draw a distinction between templating (HTML,CSS,JS,Svelte) and content (title, description, paragraph, images). Edit templating from the IDE and the content from the browser.

It compiles down to native, and fixes many idiosyncrasies grandfathered in the base languages and syntax. That to me feels like less baggage.

Svelte shill here. I'd like to get opposing views about the baggage svelte brings along, and how it can have less to no baggage. The way I see it, Svelte lets you write HTML+ CSS+ JS+ at your leisure. Meaning only when you need it, and easily fallback to native behaviour on whim.

There are future proposals for alternative routers for sveltekit. Which should allow you to customize this behaviour. Until then, update your tooling.

Scott Wu @scottwu.ca · 29/08/2026
This is a tooling issue, not a framework one. Being in the console and vim should afford you the maximum flexibility to achieve the desired behaviour you want. We moved to this model as it is more consistent. Pathname === route among other reasons.

You search via the folder name, not the filename. Editor's like vs code handles this.

Would love to see it.

How was it migrating over?

As a self proclaimed svelte enjoyer. I agree that some DX were sacrificed during the transition. But overall, it was a net positive DX and it opened the door to async svelte.

Even better it also handles js, jsdocs and ts projects.
110
Scott Wu @scottwu.ca · 15/08/2026
Yes, the CLI also handles non kit projects. It is experiential. But only because we're still trying to get more feedback from add-on developers on missing APIs.

Consider building a community addon. svelte.dev/docs/cli/sv-... So you can piggyback on the official CLI

This comes up a lot. What is your use case for wanting to style children?
120
Scott Wu @scottwu.ca · 05/08/2026
You can follow whatever is current is in `sv create`. We keep it up to date to the latest and greatest. Of the things you mentioned. Only SK3 is included. Because the others arent ready yet.

Scott Wu @scottwu.ca · 05/08/2026
I think this is niche within a niche. How often do you switch themes that demand a keyboard shortcut.
100
Scott Wu @scottwu.ca · 02/08/2026
You're not getting the right template for your use case. Run `sv create` instead and select typescript.
110
Scott Wu @scottwu.ca · 01/08/2026
Which variant did you select? Use `bun sv create` for a proper experience.

Scott Wu @scottwu.ca · 01/08/2026
Use the base configuration provided by sv create for reference
