More urban Red Deer hinds and fawns in Staffordshire. 50m from an office complex, 80m from houses and a main road. The fawn hasn't quite got the hang of wallowing yet 😂 @staffswildlife.bsky.social @staffsmammalgroup.bsky.social

Urban Staffs tonight. 4 Red Deer hinds & 3 fawns 50m from houses. A fox trots up to the ranger station being not much bothered by a cat and vice versa. Last video, sound up as two people + dog and torch come down the track. @staffsmammalgroup.bsky.social @staffswildlife.bsky.social

Some interesting information on the colour-ringed Choughs I saw yesterday at Porth Ysgaden. Thanks to Adrienne from the North Wales Chough project for the super-speedy reply. Her report is attached below along with more of my pics. @birdsinwales.bsky.social

Wonderful eclipse in the beautiful clear sky in the hills above Prenteg. Stayed for some Perseid action as well. No pictures because I was revelling in the majesty of the universe and remembering that young boy who used to lie on his back and look into the vastness of space 😊

I had a good evening of Nightjar watching last night in Staffordshire - although I had to tell-off two teenagers who had started a campfire on the heath, and watch them put it out 🙄 Sound up, more video / pics in comments. @westmidbirdclub.bsky.social @thermal4birding.bsky.social

I love finding colour-ringed birds as it feels like I'm helping with real science. Today I found 2 C-R Curlews amongst a flock of 20 on the Glaslyn Estuary. Amazingly, I saw U7 last October in nearly the same field. HP is a special find (see note from T.Cross, ringer). @birdsinwales.bsky.social

Dragged Ken Summers down to Eastleach to see the Long-Tailed Shrike this afternoon. After a 20 minute wait it showed very well but was a bit heat-hazy for photos Cracking bird which looks to be moulting some primaries And, yes, it's tail is long 😊 Video in comments @westmidbirdclub.bsky.social
